See inside the Daytime Emmy voting
For the past several years GoldDerby has led an aggressive (some would say, ahem, too aggressive) mediawide drive to open up the Daytime Emmy voting process to permit journalists and other outsiders to see what the judges see, a policy that's always surrounded the Primetime Emmys. Admittedly, the showdown got tense last year, but finally the TV academy's Awards Committee and Board of Trustees voted to release DVDs of the episodes to the media. (Memo to the TV academy: thank you!)
Each nominee for best series and acting submits two sample episodes from the past TV season as examples of their best work to peer-group judges who evaluate them at home or office. On April 8, the last day of Emmy judging, The Envelope will feature extensive coverage and analysis of the episodes submitted in every category that will be featured on the ceremony telecast on April 28. Our own judges are viewing them now.
Soon you can see them, too. ABC's sister cable channel Soapnet will telecast the episodes submitted by most lead actress nominees on April 8. On April 15, it will feature many episodes submitted by contenders for lead actor and best series. Not all soaps have agreed to participate yet, but negotiations continue. Word is still pending, for example, from "The Young and the Restless."

I don't think you can say any one soap is better than another. You watch the ones that are your favorite. For me, General Hospital, All My Children, and As The World Turns are my favorite soaps, I hope they all have a winner emmy night. All of them are such good shows, and deserve the nominations. So in case anyone would like to know this is who I am hoping wins, although I would be happy if anyone from my shows won. I like GH for Drama and Directing, ATWT for Writing, Anthony Geary for Lead Actor, Kelly Monaco for Lead Actress, Jennifer Ferrin, for Supporting Actress, Trent Dawson for Supporting Actor, Levin Ramblin Younger Actress, and Jesse Sofer for Younger Actor.

Days Of Our lives is the better soap. Much better actors. The only thing Days doesn't have that ATWT, OLTL and GH has is good writers! The actors are FAR better than any of the other soap actors imo! They just need better writing for their characters. This is the reason why they are getting passed up constantly. It's not the actors. It's the sucky WRITING!

Thank You Frankie R! As the World Turns IS the Best Show on Daytime - hands down! They proved it especially throughout this whole year and not just for 2 episodes like GH does to submit them for Emmys. They justified that they are indeed the Best Show with the baby switch saga and now with Luke's realistic gay storyline. As the World Turns shows us that they Are the gold standard of soaps as they celebrate their 50TH Anniversary!

General Hospital is getting really exciting again, except for the disgusting storyline they insist on ...Mob boss Sonny with his "best friends" younger and I mean younger sister and they keep shoving this pretty much "incestuous "relationship (which most people get sick watching )down our throats.... other than that it is good again!!

As The World Turns is the Best Show on Daytime--the storylines, the acting, directing, the writing --it's all there and Emmy worthy!! Why on earth is General Hospital up for Best Drama?? It sucks sooooo baaaaadddd!!
