'History Boys' reps strike back at rumors

September 11, 2006 |  7:35 pm

We've heard from reps of "The History Boys," who insist that the dissing of their pic is pure hooey. The reason the film didn't come to Toronto, they say, was because the boys couldn't come along with it for promotion. They must remain on Broadway till closing night, Oct. 2, then quickly scoot to London for the film's royal gala debut before Prince Charles the next day. After that, Fox Searchlight will begin press screenings before its rollout to U.S. theaters on Nov. 22.

"The movie is great," adds the rep. "Nothing's wrong. We haven't screened 'Notes on a Scandal' yet either, but nobody's spreading rumors about it!" Good point! Take that, you gossipmeisters!
