Bobby's kin officially backs "Bobby"
Looks like the Kennedys are finally starting to crack — er, make that get on board and endorse the new Harvey Weinstein/ Emilio Estevez film duet called "Bobby."
About a month ago things looked bleak when at least two of Robert Kennedy's children said they refused to back the film because it's not really about their father. It's a drama about various fictitious folks who worked at the Ambassador Hotel on the day of the RFK assassination in 1968. There were even unconfirmed reports that Bobby's widow Ethel and brother Teddy felt the same way. Harvey was said to be getting increasingly worried about "Bobby's" Oscar hopes without the support of "Bobby's" surviving clan.
But now the L.A. Times reports, "The widow and daughter of Robert F. Kennedy have given their rare blessing. In statements released Friday by the Weinstein Co., which is distributing the movie, Ethel Kennedy and her daughter Kerry thanked the filmmakers and expressed hope that young people would see the film and, in the younger Kennedy's words, 'find the inspiration to dedicate themselves to all he sought to achieve.'"
