Flagsoffathers

Reviews of "Flags of Our Fathers " are almost all raves. Enthusiastic huzzahs from Time, Newsweek, Variety, Hollywood Reporter, New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today and the Wall Street Journal. No pans yet from major media. So-so reviews by Entertainment Weekly, Premiere, Chicago Tribune and Miami Herald.

L.A. Times' Ken Turan says, "A narrative like this requires a measured, classical style to be most effective, and it couldn't have found a better director than Clint Eastwood. "Flags" unfurls nationally today. Citing moviegoer poll info, Jeff Wells of Hollywood-Elsewhere.com predicts it "will be the number 1 film this weekend — 83 general, 43 definite interest, 14 first choice. Look for a decent opening ($20 million or so) but not a spectacular one." Read more —CLICK HERE!

Now that the movie has only done so-so business...can we expect it to get pushed aside by the far more scuccessful "The Departed?"

A lot of top reviewers said the same thing about Munich last year. Look how well that turned-out....

Though I'm excited for this movie, I've heard the acting is sub-par, even for histrionic Adam Beach, Clint Eastwood is overwhelmed, and the narrative is so disjointed, it spoils the entire picture. It looks good, but this will be the "name-only nomination" this year--the same that Steven Speilberg and Munich got last year.
