The academy's Documentary Branch screening committee has declared 15 titles eligible to compete in the derby. Next, these titles will be evaluated by branch members, who'll whittle them down to 5 nominees.

"Blindsight"
"Can Mr. Smith Get to Washington Anymore?"
"Deliver Us from Evil"
"The Ground Truth"
"An Inconvenient Truth"
"Iraq in Fragments"
"Jesus Camp"
"Jonestown: The Life and Death of People’s Temple"
"My Country, My Country"
"Shut Up & Sing"
"Sisters in Law"
"Storm of Emotions"
"The Trials of Darryl Hunt"
"An Unreasonable Man"
"The War Tapes"

Photo: "Deliver Us from Evil" is an expose of the sexual molestation of girls and boys by Catholic priests, who were protected by church authorities. One notorious case: Father Oliver O'Grady, who abused countless children over 30 years in northern California.
