Classy Bill Condon ignores Globes' double snub
Biggest gyp of the Golden Globe morn: Bill Condon getting shut out even though he directed and wrote the screen adaptation of the film that's miles ahead to win best comedy picture at the Globes and best picture at the Oscars — "Dreamgirls."
Globe voters got sooooooooo carried away with slobbering over celebs today that gave Clint Eastwood two bids for best director, including one for helming a film they didn't feel worthy of nominating for best drama pic — "Flags of Our Fathers"! What sense does that make?
But Bill was most gracious gent this morn, deferring to the success of colleagues upon the announcement of Globe bids. He released this statement that — please take note — draws no attention at all to his ignoble snub. What a classy dreamboy!
"It's a real kick to get this kind of recognition on the day before we open, and I'm especially excited for Beyonce Knowles, Eddie Murphy, and Jennifer Hudson," he says. "'Dreamgirls' is a movie about performers, so to have three of our cast members honored feels very nice. I'm also delighted that Henry Krieger, who wrote the original show, has been nominated for his new song, "Listen.'"

Dreamgirls will get nommed for Best Picture, but a win is not assured. It will win a few statuettes, but the top one is no guarantee based on the Globe nominations. The DGA noms will be the final deciding factor.

I absolutely disagree the globes double nomination for Clint Eastwood
But, I also think that Dreamgirls is good, but not the best film of the year....
It has a lot of hype, specially from Tom O'Neil (sorry Tom but is the truth)...
I hasn't make a big splash with the critics.... It's doing just Ok...
And Tom, I have to differ from your statement: "the film that's miles ahead to win best comedy picture at the Globes and best picture at the Oscars — "Dreamgirls." "
I think that The Departed is shaping to be the top contender in the oscar race, with an unproved (with the audiences) Dreamgirls as a close second..

How can Dreamgirls be "miles ahead" in the Oscar race if ol´ Bill didn´t get a Globe nom? Dreamgirls is hype and will be lucky to be nominated imo.
