Globe voters tune out fall's new TV lineup
The real Globe shockeroos were over on the TV side. I guess voters didn't like the last new fall season.
Usually, Globe voters love to embrace rookies. Remember who won the top acting trophies last year? Hugh Laurie, Geena Davis, Mary Louise Parker and Steve Carell — the hottest new stars on the tube. Globes voters are foreign journos on the lookout for exciting topics to write about in their newspapers back in Capetown, Istanbul and Lisbon.
But their nominees this year were almost all TV veterans appearing on established shows. "Brothers and Sisters," "30 Rock" and "Studio 60" failed to be nommed for best series. No bids for Sally Field, Calista Flockhart, Tina Fey, Amanda Peet — or James Woods ("Shark"), Ted Danson ("Help Me Help You"), Anne Heche ("Men in Trees").
Wow! When the TV Globes become the Emmys?

Deadwood wasn't eligible, since no new episodes aired during 2006.
