'The Departed' is biggest among best-pic sluggers

As everybody knows, size matters in Hollywood.

In the Oscar race for best picture, for example, the longest movie wins about half of the time. Isn't that hilarious? Evidence is overwhelming that Oscar voters believe best picture = big picture. And not just in terms of running time, but scope, too. Thus, they're suckers for epics.

FYI: here are how some of yesterday's top Golden Globe nominees stack up in terms of running time:

"The Departed" - 151 minutes
"Babel" - 142
"Letters from Iwo Jima" - 141
"Dreamgirls" - 131
"Little Children" - 130
"Bobby" - 120
"The Devil Wears Prada" - 109
"Little Miss Sunshine" - 101
"Thank You for Smoking" - 92
"The Queen" - 97
"Borat" - 84

I saw the Departed and I thought it was the best movie ever. If I was going to rate it, I'd give it an A+. The best movie I have seen in a very long time and that's saying something. Leonardo and all the actors were great. Nice Job! A really great movie! I loved it!
