'Babel' scores surprise bid from sound guild

January 18, 2007 | 11:19 am

The Cinema Audio Society has announced nominations hailing sound mixing: "Flags of Our Fathers," "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest,","Babel," "Blood Diamond," "Dreamgirls."

As usual, and quite hilariously, the guild cites some of the year's LOUDEST movies, the one exception being "Babel," which probably won't be nommed by Oscar. The two sets of nominees rarely line up exactly. They've done so only twice in 13 years, so, if there's an exception again this year, expect it to be "Babel," natch.
