Oscar's biggest loser, sound mixer Kevin O'Connell, reaped his 19th nom ("Apocalypto")
Oscar's biggest loser among actors, Peter O'Toole, receiving his 8th bid ("Venus")
When nominated for "Devil Wears Prada," Meryl Streep set a new record for most acting bids (14). She only has two actual wins, however ("Sophie's Choice," "Kramer vs. Kramer"). Katharine Hepburn won the most for acting (four: "Morning Glory," "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," "The Lion in Winter," "On Golden Pond").

Now that Abigail is nominated for best supporting actress...do we need to talk about the possibility that she might win? Female child actors do very well in that category. And Dreamgirls is obviously weaker than expected...no picture, director or screenplay...Abigail could win after all...she couldddddd.

Meryl Streep should have more than one Oscar for lead actress and another for supporting. The Academy awards Sally Field, Hillary Swank and Jodie Foster two and not the most accomplished actress of her generation? Surely, this has to do with timing and momentum and not talent. I'm hoping Meryl pulls a shocker - ala Marisa Tomei (the one American comedic performance among four foreign dramatic actresses.
