Will GLAAD voters hop aboard 'Shortbus'?

Yikes! Imagine the rowdydow, rumpus and racket that'll break out if "Shortbus" wins best picture (limited release) from GLAAD, which just announced its award nominees! The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation likes to promote a positive image of the lavender community, which, let's be honest, likes to get a bit racy sometimes. "Shortbus" is John Cameron Mitchell's brazen cinema-orgy, so it's a tempting vote. Because of its oozing charm, "Little Miss Sunshine" may seem like an irresistible fave in the other best-pic race, for wide releases, but, come on, it features a gay character who (visions of 1950s flicks!) slits his wrists.

The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will be held in New York on March 26, 2007 at the Marriott Marquis; in Los Angeles on April 14 at the Kodak Theatre; in San Francisco on April 28 at the Westin St. Francis; and in South Florida on May 10 at the JW Marriott Miami.
