Saturn Awards are out of this world

February 22, 2007 |  8:00 am

Though Dame Judi Dench isn't crossing the pond for this weekend's Oscarcast (she bowed out to have a knee operation), she may want to plan a trip for the May 10 Saturn Awards given that Oscar rival Dame Helen Mirren's portrayal of "The Queen" did not qualify for the sci-fi, fantasy & thriller awards while hers, as the obsessed teacher in "Notes on a Scandal," did. Overall, "Superman Returns" soared with 10 nominations, including a surprise nod for Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane, a role that also has her up for a Razzie this weekend as worst supporting actress, while Superman himself, Brandon Routh, faces off against, among others, the new Bond, Daniel Craig, and the old Tom Cruise in the best actor race.
