Podcast chat with Coleridge: I'm baffled by the Emmys
"I'm not outraged," says Daniel Coleridge of TV Guide about the snub of "General Hospital," which has dominated the top Daytime Emmy race in recent years. "I don't think it's a tragedy. I think another show deserves a shot at best drama series."
Coleridge is mystified and disappointed, however, about the oversight of one of daytime TV's greatest divas, who's never been nominated. "The real snub is Katherine Kelly Lang, who's now in her twentieth year as the centerpiece of 'The Bold and the Beautiful,'" he adds in our podcast chat. "She portrays the slut of all time, but she's still a very sympathetic character, despite the fact that she's slept her way through an entire family. But she still makes us love her. She's such an underrated actress. I'm puzzled by this snub. I don't understand it."
He also finds the whole Emmy process an enigma: "I'm surprised every year. I never quite undertstand what's in the mind of Emmy voters. It all starts with this strange, newfangled voting process of pre-nominations . . . where each show has to vote among themselves to decide who they're going to submit for possible nominations."

Preferably ATWT or DOOL deserved a spot in the Best Daytime Drama over GH...especially ATWT a show so well-acted, consistently well-written with storylines more down to earth and compelling than some of the outlandish, convoluted stories on other daytime dramas...Now if AMC my darling of all daytime dramas would find its way to back to greatness it once was....sigh!...
