Anna Nicole's 'Aliens' to invade Cannes

April 11, 2007 |  1:30 pm

Illegalaliens

Anna Nicole Smith's last movie "Illegal Aliens" is reputed to be so bad that, despite her prominence in the news, it's heading straight to DVD on May 1.

But, beware: no joke. The low-brow, high-camp comedy — touted as "Charlie's Angels" goes sci-fi, with a touch of "Men In Black" — is going to be unspooled at the Cannes Film Festival next month! Out of competition, we must presume. The idea of Anna Nicole winning best actress — sacre blue! — for portraying one of three "super-hot babes who arrive to protect Earth from intergalactic forces of evil" (so says the press release) is too much to bear!

The 93-minute sci-fi spoof was coproduced and cowritten in part by Anna Nicole herself. Her late son Daniel is credited as an associate producer.

Photo: Even though "Illegal Aliens" is outrageously cheesy, "Everyone knows Anna would have loved to have the world premiere at Cannes," says producer Scott Jones. "It is a market fitting for her and this film." (Edgewood Studios)

Hey, Quiet cool. BTW, I recently added a new cool News widget on my blog. Goto http://www.widgetmate.com or just google widgetmate. It gives a free customizable news widget that can added to your blog for latest news on the topics of your interest. Simple cut paste.

It is NOT, repeat NOT in competition at Cannes!-- It is at a trade show down the road being promoted for sale. It is a total piece of crap with these poor excuse for women shucking and jiving as bimbos in the same way Stepin Fetchit shucked and jived a stereotype for blacks. It is not only bad, it is embarrassing.

I think they're hoping people will think this will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival. But, technically, it'll be part of the Cannes Film Market, which - as you point out - is a whole other kettle of fish.

Also, they're billing this as a "world premiere" in Cannes, but the movie actually "premieres" two weeks earlier on home video.

Small world.
