Finally, Emmy love for Laura!
What a way to start off the Daytime Emmys! The win by Genie Francis was historic. "I've waited 31 years for this!" she howled accepting the prize that has stubbornly eluded one half of the most celebrated love duo in daytime TV history. Heck, Luke (Anthony Geary) has won FIVE as best lead actor. The very least that voters could do was to give Laura this prize in the supporting category.
After thanking Bryan Frons, the head of ABC daytime programming, she went on to acknowledge Geary and promised that there would be a party in her hometown of Belfast, Maine.
But, oooops, there was one big, goof-up with the victory: As the news was announced that the "General Hospital" star was finally being hailed, the orchestra struck up the theme music for "The Bold and the Beautiful"!
What Tony said about finding an onscreen relationship with someone you trust and admire, then the way he looked at Genie, and she at him.. that didn't have a THING to do with the catagory they were presenting, that was a private-public moment between Tony and Genie! The look was "THE LOOK", that making love without touching look.. the more intimate than sex look.. they are just SO PERFECT together.. that magic, that chemistry exudes ALL outside of GH.. Genie looks FANTASTIC!! She had that high slit in her dress, the high heels, the cleavage.. she was showing ALL her assets, and I hope that TIIC are eating their hearts out at what they let walk away!!! To heck with trying to make Laura Spencer Matronly, Genie looked like she was in her 30's.. gorgeous.. and Tony with his hand behind her back up the steps was just classic Tony.. classic Genie and Tony together...she is so humble, she just looks like she has no idea what to say when someone praises or compliments her..like she is so surprised..GOD LOVE GENIE AND TONY!! BRING GENIE BACK, the magic is SO obviously still there!! Congratulations 1000 times over Genie Francis!!! This is SO richly deserved!!!! It's about time!!!
