Transcript: Our Emmy chat with Mary-Louise Parker

June 30, 2007 | 10:11 am

When Mary-Louise Parker joined us for a chat session on Saturday, we were able to give her the good news that "Weeds" was in the Top 10 comedy series being screened by judges at the TV Mlpchat2academy. (Later in the day, after the chat, we learned that she made it into the Top 10 rundown for best comedy actress and relayed that news via her reps.) When we asked her about how she feels portraying a controversial, pot-peddling suburban mom on TV, she said, "I feel like I wouldn't want to play a character that was only lovable and above reproach. I don't know if that mother exists. That said, she could have gotten a job at the Gap. But then I wouldn't have a job." READ MORE BELOW. (Special thanks to MicheBel for editing this transcript.)

24fanatic: Tom should have priority

Tom O'Neil: First, answer me, Mary-Louise

MicheBel: whichever you want

Mary-Louise Parker: ok

Tom O'Neil: Are you an Emmy voter?

Mary-Louise Parker: yes

Tom O'Neil: Let's stay focused on Weeds and the Emmys, pls

BTN: You were very blunt in Entertainment Weekly about having questions about a character that could leave her kids motherless

Mary-Louise Parker: i feel like i wouldn't want to play a character that was only lovable and above reproach. i don't know if that mother exists. that said, she could have gotten a job at the gap. but then i wouldn't have a job.

babypook: We're waiting for the release of the Jesse James film

TommyCastro: -What's it like having a notable personality like Mary-Kate Olsen on the show this year?
