Rob L: Great to have you here!
Courteney Cox: Oh, thank you so much!
Rob L: Congrats on season 2 renewal
BTN: HI Court (if i can say that)
Aura: Happy belated Birthday
HollywoodStar: Hey Courtney!. I'm a HUGE FAN of yours!.
Michael Bluth: Congrats on everything
Rob L: What do we have to do to finally get Courtney an Emmy nod???
BC: Greetings, Courteney.
mediumfan: My congratulations also!
HollywoodStar: Yea Happy Berlated Birthday.
BC: Exactly, Rob L. She was robbed for years.
Tom O'Neil: Hey, Courteney, in addition to being your host here (and the Envelope blogger), I am a senior editor of In Touch Weekly magazine
Bug: Yes, congrats on the new show and the 2nd season. Wonderful stuff.
Courteney Cox: Good question! What do we do?!
Tom O'Neil: In Touch isn't quite "Dirt" but it's a tab
Courteney Cox: You all are so sweet.
Michael Bluth: dont know
Michael Bluth: awww
Rob L: Courtney - it's a travesty! You need to be nominjated for Dirt.
Tom O'Neil: "Dirt" makes the tab mag scene sure look glam
HollywoodStar: Not to think I'm weird, but I feel like I know you. I don't think I've missed one episdoe of Friends. That is one of my favorite shows ever!.
HollywoodStar: My friends love the show as well.
Tom O'Neil: The tabs do NOT have glam offices like that, you know!
Shamrock: Hopefully the show and your performance will get you nominated
Michael Bluth: Dirt was was fun
Tom O'Neil: And the editors don't like in such fancy digs!
BTN: the scene in the finale with your brother when he was arrested was great what was it like filming that emotional scene
Tom O'Neil: Just thought I'd let you know!
HollywoodStar: Hate to admit it, but I think I cried in the finale, haha.
HollywoodStar: Ok....let me put my fanboy outside the window, for now.
Boomer: You chose "Ita Messa Est" for your Emmy episode submission? What did you like most about that episode and your role in it?
2007-06-18 17:03:27.0
Michael Bluth: down Boy
Rob L: YOu really surprised me in this show. Very different side of you than what we are used to!
HollywoodStar: How is Dirt different from working on Friends?!
Courteney Cox: Hey Tom!
JustJen: Courteney how is your beautiful family?
Tom O'Neil: Tell us what it's like working on "Dirt"
Courteney Cox: I agree DIRT does glamorize things a bit, but we have to.
mediumfan: When you set out to make a show about paparazzi and the tabloid press, did you intentionally set out to make it so dark?
BTN: is the character that jenifer aniston played going to be recast?
Tom O'Neil: I know -- It's like on "Friends" -- all New Yorkers say, "Hey, those kids could NEVER AFFORD to live in an aprtment like THAT!
Courteney Cox: I absolutely love working on DIRT. We just started a new writers room for season 2 and we're breaking stories and having a ball!
Rob L: Courtney, I really enjoy Ian Hart on the show. What's he like???
BTN: any based on anna nicole
Tom O'Neil: Can I mention one gripe I have about the show?
Courteney Cox: Ian is an amazing actor. he's very eccentric in the best way.
Michael Bluth: please or something on Britney
Shamrock: Sounds great. Its a fantastic show.
Tom O'Neil: I have a gripe about the audio
BTN: or paris going to jail that;s right up dirts ally
Courteney Cox: please, i'd love to hear anything.
Courteney Cox: tell me more...
Tom O'Neil: Dialogue is muted too low while the other sounds are too LOUD
Tom O'Neil: While watching the show I have to juggle the sound function on the remote too much
Rob L: I think you and Ian are the best shots at Emmy nominations from the show this year. Is FX pushing the show strongly?
Michael Bluth: A singer shaves her hair off
Courteney Cox: good to know. we are, ironically, getting a new post production supervisor
Tom O'Neil: have to bring it up for the dialog and turn it down for everything else -- DRIVES ME NUTS
Tom O'Neil: THANK GAWD!
mediumfan: How involved is your husband with the making of the show? I know you are both producers.
Tom O'Neil: OK, I'll stop bitchin' now
Rob L: What's it like working for FX?
Michael Bluth: oh
HollywoodStar: How does David feel about the show "Dirt" Courteney Cox?!
Paul Sheehan: and they have a great name for their production company - coquette
Tom O'Neil: Yes, tell us about your roles as producers
Courteney Cox: Michael and BTN, you're right. real life is so crazy, stories are endless.
BTN: perfect show at the right time
Michael Bluth: word
Shamrock: What's the schedule like for the show? long working days?
Courteney Cox: we're very involved as producers. it's been an amazing learning experience. hopefully, next year will be even more fun and outrageous than season one.
Boomer: You chose "Ita Messa Est" for your Emmy episode submission? What did you like most about that episode and your role in it?
Rob L: I thought it was the right choice Courtney.
HollywoodStar: Yeah I concur.
Courteney Cox: thanks rob
Tom O'Neil: yeah, talk about Ita Messa Est
Michael Bluth: what was that episode on ?
Rob L: Please - give us your reasoning.
Courteney Cox: i felt that it showed the most colors in LUCY in one episode
HollywoodStar: It would be a shame if you don't garner a nomination with that episode.
Paul Sheehan: otherwise known as "the one where courteney gets an emmy nomination"
Tom O'Neil: FINALLY
Shamrock: Right. lol
Courteney Cox: paul, thanks!
mediumfan: With so many actors in your extended family, and several in Emmy contention, is there any competition or rivalry among you, even friendly?
Courteney Cox: tom!
Rob L: Yep - spot on. It shows OTEHR sides to the character
Tom O'Neil: Courteney -- you are here among a bunch of award NUTS, you know
Courteney Cox: well, i wouldn't know. i've never gotten one.
dug11: And you should not only have multiple nominations, but wins.
Tom O'Neil: The fact that you were the only cast member of Friends not to be nommed is regarded by us as one of the GREATEST TRAGEDIES IN TV HISTORY
Paul Sheehan: just for the fat suit alone!
Rob L: And we have always wanted a nod for you Courteney - you are like Lauren Graham
HollywoodStar: What are some of your favorite shows on TV Courteney?!
Michael Bluth: YOU WERE ROBBED FOR FRIENDS (sorry had to get that outta of my system)
Aura: no the choregraohy
Shamrock: absolutely.
BTN: it just doesn't make any sense
HollywoodStar: Yeah...I wish you'd won at least one.
Tom O'Neil: shocking. shocking. shocking omission
Rob L: I know! It doesn't make sense
BC: You were robbed for Friends, it's one of the biggest mysteries of life.
Boomer: You've been working in television for about 20 years now. Are you an Emmy voter yourself? What sorts of shows and performances did you enjoy this past season.
Courteney Cox: wow! this is better than therapy!
Bug: Oh, boy. The dancing in the fat suit is one of the funniest things I've ever seen on television.
BTN: haha
Rob L: We are SERIOUS!
Michael Bluth: like crop circles
JustJen: ha ha
Shamrock: and cheaper!
Michael Bluth: the fat suit!!!
Tom O'Neil: We are VERY SERIOUS
Courteney Cox: i love THE SOPRANOS. it hurts my soul knowing that's over
HollywoodStar: It would've nice to see you win at least one of those.
BC: Your first big break was Bruce Springstreen pulling you up in a crowd and dancing.
JustJen: any others?
Courteney Cox: also, not because she's my family, but i do think patricia is amazing on MEDIUM
HollywoodStar: One question...the ending?! What did you think of it Courteney?
Michael Bluth: Courtney what did u think of the finale of sopranos
Rob L: And there are milions of people that would agree.
Courteney Cox: please DON'T say a word about the ending
Michael Bluth: where's mediumfan?
HollywoodStar: Ok....I won't.
Rob L: What else do you love on TV???
Courteney Cox: that's the one episode i haven't seen
HollywoodStar: Sorry about that.
Courteney Cox: i'm watching it tomorrow!!!
mediumfan: I knew you were smart, Courteney. I LOVE Patricia also!! She's great!
Michael Bluth: oh?
Courteney Cox: shhh
Tom O'Neil: Let's go back to discussing your Emmy episode submission
Michael Bluth: You'll be surprised
Rob L: Do you vote Courteney?
Aura: I'm surprised you were able to avoid all the press on it
Rob L: Yes - your episode
Courteney Cox: yes, i do vote
Rob L: (for the emmys)
HollywoodStar: Awesome.
BTN: good
Michael Bluth: who would you vote fir Best Comedy & Drama
Rob L: What comedy and drama series did you like the most this past season?
Michael Bluth: for
Boomer: Other than DIRT, of course.
Aura: Do you watch everything or just vote for friends? no pun intended
Courteney Cox: best drama - SOPRANOS
Tom O'Neil: have you ever done at=home judging for Emmys?
Rob L: You rule
Courteney Cox: best comedy - 30 ROCK or THE OFFICE
Rob L: yes!
Shamrock: excellent choices!
HollywoodStar: Nice one.
JustJen: Great choices
Bug: Ooh, The Office. My current favorite comedy.
Courteney Cox: i vote for things i watch
arrested53: great choices
HollywoodStar: Love The Office.
Rob L: EVERYBODY on these chat rooms has been saying 30 Rock. I think celebs love this show!
BC: It's nice that you follow that line, voting for what you watch.
BTN: office is great Pam and Jim or jim and karen
Michael Bluth: How about Scrubs :( but LOVE 30 rock best new show
Tom O'Neil: 30 Rock is about media so it has a special resonance with media folk
Shamrock: I think Lauren Graham said 30 Rock too. It is a great show
BC: ITA about 30 Rock. It could be this year's surprise sleeper.
mediumfan: If you and Patricia were to both be nominated (hope, hope), would there be any competitiveness or mutual support between you?
Courteney Cox: tina fey, tracy morgan, and alec are all great
Rob L: Courteney - do you do the at-home judging (watching all the DVDs)
JustJen: yeah she did
BC: Scrubs is gettin' in with the "Musical" episode, hands down!
Rob L: Tracey Morgan makes me howl with laughter
Tom O'Neil: Alec could probably brush up a bit on his daddy skills
Michael Bluth: Yup Rob
HollywoodStar: What did you think of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip?!
Courteney Cox: we would never be competitive. it wasn't on FRIENDS and i sure wouldn't feel it with Patricia.
BC: ITA, Tom.
BC: I miss Studio 60. :(
mediumfan: That's awesome!
Courteney Cox: I think Matthew is a genius.
HollywoodStar: I know.
Rob L: Courteney - are you happy with the Emmy campaign for "Dirt"?
BTN: who was behind the switch from supporting to lead who originated it
Bug: I'm going to miss Studio 60 so much.
HollywoodStar: Yeah.
Courteney Cox: what Emmy campaign?
Tom O'Neil: yes, Studio 60 was terrif
Shamrock: haha
Rob L: :)
arrested53: Hahahaha
BTN: friends
Tom O'Neil: FX has done an excellent job getting DVDs of "Dirt" out to voters
Michael Bluth: it's weird that all friends besides you and Jennifer (since she didn't have a show after friends) all failed
Rob L: Thats right Tom.
Tom O'Neil: It's prominently featured in the FX Emmy box
Rob L: That's why Courteney finally has a shot.
Courteney Cox: oh, good!
mediumfan: Has FX been very supportive of the show, even though it struggled early on?
Tom O'Neil: Including your Emmy episode submission
Bug: What made you decide to play such a dark character? It's very different from what we're used to. But also so fantastic.
Courteney Cox: i was thinking more in terms of ads
Rob L: Courteney - you are a REAL contender to make the Top 10. Then the work dpeaks for itself.
Tom O'Neil: FX has done some ads for "Dirt"
BTN: the tv ads promoting the show were excellent
Courteney Cox: because it's so different from previous characters i've played
Tom O'Neil: Emmy ads, I mean
HollywoodStar: You getting a nod for "Dirt" would be one of the smartest moves the Emmys could make! It would be great for the show as well.
Rob L: There is a real sense that you are DUE for an Emmy nod.
mediumfan: I would love to see some DIRT Emmy ads. The intial campaign when it came on ws beautiful.
Shamrock: And with the episode you submitted you stand a real chance in my opinion
Boomer: When you first started on TV, you got to join the incredible cast of Family Ties and the comic genius of Michael J. Fox. How did that experience prepare you for future roles?
Courteney Cox: i'm actually not trying to be sarcastic, i haven't seen any
Rob L: There out there. Trust us.
Aura: Does doing the show help you understand that side of the paparazzi/entertainment media better?
Paul Sheehan: didn't you originally just plan on producing dirt till you realized what a great character this was for you to play?
HollywoodStar: After FRIENDS, I made sure I 'd support each one of you in whatever you guys do.
BTN: can you talk about family ties and fox
Tom O'Neil: good question, Paul
BTN: dirt questions first
HollywoodStar: So...I hope you grab a nod.
Courteney Cox: Michael Fox is such a gifted comedian. it was a pleasure to watch and learn from him.
BC: What was it like being opposite Michael J. Fox on "Family Ties"?
BTN: thanks
Rob L: How was having Jennifer Aniston on set? Bring back memories?
HollywoodStar: Love the work he does as well (Fox).
Michael Bluth: how did you get your role in "Dirt'
Courteney Cox: that's right, paul.
BTN: did you audition any actresses?
Courteney Cox: it was fantastic working with jennifer.
Tom O'Neil: I'll show you around
HollywoodStar: Speaking of, what do you think of the gossip bloggers out there like Perez Hilton and them?!
Courteney Cox: i should come over. i'd love that.
HollywoodStar: Courteney?!
Courteney Cox: yes, hollywoodstar
Tom O'Neil: it's in Englewood Cliffs, NJ -- not very glam
HollywoodStar: Speaking of, what do you think of the gossip bloggers out there like Perez Hilton and them?!
Tom O'Neil: but it's just over the GW bridge
Tom O'Neil: Let me know when you're in NYC next
HollywoodStar: The question was right above.
Courteney Cox: the bloggers can be pretty brutal with people, but freedom of speech
Michael Bluth: I'm lost what's in New Jersey ?
Courteney Cox: i will tom, thanks
HollywoodStar: True true.
Bug: Do you have any guest stars lined up for the 2nd season or anyone in mind you'd like to come on for an episode or two?
Shamrock: Do you know when the first season will make it out on dvd?
K-Dogg: hey courtney
mediumfan: I love the character of Lucy and the contrast between her and Monica is incredible. I think that's what will make the Emmy voters sit up and take notice of you finally.
Tom O'Neil: Perez goes crazy on purpose
Courteney Cox: just started talking about guest stars. any suggestions?
K-Dogg: i hope you and jennifer get a pair of nods for DIRT this awards season

Courteney Cox: alexis would be great
HollywoodStar: What about David?! haha.
K-Dogg: does she still act?
Courteney Cox: should i be offended i wasn't invited back
Bug: Another actor, who isn't as well known who I think could be interesting, would be Scott Patterson. He's got a real knack for doing drama.
