Boomer: Welcome, John. Great to have you with us.
John Stamos: I'm in Tokyo right now, its 8AM Tuesday here...
Aura: oh wow
Tom O'Neil: Wow
Shamrock: nice!
Bug: Well good morning, then.
Boomer: Are you on vacation or working in Tokyo?
John Stamos: Where should we start?
Tom O'Neil: John, tell us why you chose Murmurs of the Heart at your Emmy episode
John Stamos: Yes, I'm on vacation at Disney, then I head to Sydney for a little "ER" press
John Stamos: I thought that episode was going to be really hard for me because it was so emotional
John Stamos: Actually, Chole who plays Sarah did all the work.
John Stamos: All you had to do was watch her and be in the moment. I couldn't stop crying.
John Stamos: They're so smart on the show, they never let anyone be over dramatic on the show.
Tom O'Neil: Response to that episode has been terrif
Boomer: What was so emotional about the episode for you as you first read it and then performed it?
Tom O'Neil: both fans and critics
John Stamos: They cut out so much of the obvious way to play a scene. If you look at the scene, they played it as a wide two-shot in the end.
HollywoodStar: Hey John Stamos!.
Bug: Your scenes with the character of Sarah are always fantastic. The finale was killer as well.
John Stamos: I didn't know how I was going to get it up every time to be emotional, but all I had to do was watch Chloe, she would do it every time. I would just watch this young girl and her mother dying.
HollywoodStar: Who have you gotten the closest with on E.R.?!
BC: Hi, John!
Tom O'Neil: How many takes of each big key scene did you do?
John Stamos: Sometimes I get mad at them, you do so much hard work and they cut it out, but they're just so smart, if you see that scene, I just grab my head and I can't do anything.
Shamrock: right. it was an excellent episode.
BC: John, you were on General Hospital in the early '80s. How do you feel about Genie Francis's Emmy win Friday night?
Boomer: Well, the final product might just get your first acting Emmy nomination. It is some of your best work!
John Stamos: Chris Chulak who was our main director
John Stamos: he's been with the show since day one and if I'm lucky I'll work with him the rest of my life, he's such a genius
BC: Boomer, it will be his first Primetime nomination. (if he gets nominated)
HollywoodStar: I think you work well on E.R. You seem to fit right in with the other cast members. I think you deserve a nod for sure,
John Stamos: And you know, we didn't do it too many times, we don't do a lot of takes on that show.
HollywoodStar: .
John Stamos: You come to the job prepared and ready to perform, there's no time
Bug: How many days does it take to film one episode?
Tom O'Neil: Other than "Murmurs," did you consider another episode for Emmys?
Boomer: You have had one Emmy nomination previously, correct? For producing the Beach Boys miniseries?
John Stamos: I've said it before, if I got nominated I'd be shocked
John Stamos: Every person on that show before me should be nominated because of all their hard work
John Stamos: I'd almost be embarrassed if I got nominated...
Shamrock: you have a great chance at getting a nom in my opinion.
John Stamos: That's so nice!
Tom O'Neil: But you're notable enough as an actor to get into the top 10 runoff, then the episode speaks for itself to judges
JustJen: You should be proud, you do a great job
Shamrock: Well, just look at the episode. It speaks for it self.
K-Dogg: hey john
John Stamos: In terms of episode, there are pieces of every episode
Tom O'Neil: As Boomer just mentioned -- you've been nominated before, as producer of the Beach Boys mini
K-Dogg: i was just wondering what episode you submitted for emmy consideration
Boomer: The other episode I thought you should have considered was "Somebody to Love". Did you like that one as well?
John Stamos: There are some episodes where one scene in a show, the whole show will be about someone else, but you get one great scene in a show
Rob L: Hi John - I'm running late! I read in the weekend papers here in Sydney that you will be in Sydney soon for some R&R. Looking forward to it???
John Stamos: That's a worst case scenario
John Stamos: Episodes are so evenly spread.
HollywoodStar: At the Emmys, who do you feel is your biggest competitor in Best Drama Series?! It is highly contested this year.
John Stamos: We've lost a couple of characters now, I'm disappointed to see some of them go, but I also think it's a disservice to the actors that there are so many of us..
HollywoodStar: Hope you guys picked the right tape to submit. Thats key.
Tom O'Neil: That's the curse of being in a true ensemble show
John Stamos: If we go two more years, I think you'll see two less characters (Laura and Shane, two fine fine actors I'll miss madly)
Bug: Shane West's character is done with the show right?
Aura: But ensembles are always the best
John Stamos: It's difficult for the writer's to come up with stories for these people
John Stamos: Yes, there was the nom for the mini
Boomer: You've presented on several Emmy shows, but you had one trip as a nominee? What was that nominee experience like for you on that evening?
K-Dogg: if you get nominated for an emmy this year, it'll be your third Emmy nod...after a 1983 daytime nod for GENERAL HOSPITAL and a 2000 nod as producer of THE BEACH BOYS AN AMERICAN FAMILY, wouldn't it be sweet to be nominated again?
BC: John, you were on General Hospital in the early '80s. How do you feel about Genie Francis's Emmy win Friday night?
John Stamos: The cast on that show
K-Dogg: can you talk to us about A RAISIN IN THE SUN and hows its coming along?
John Stamos: is so, they blow my mind because they're not in the tabloids,
Tom O'Neil: yeah -- what about raisin
HollywoodStar: How is it working with kenny Leon?!
John Stamos: so you get confused because they're sort of under the radar ya know, then I'll walk on stage with them
K-Dogg: there's early emmy talk about that movie
HollywoodStar: in The Raisin in the Sun.
John Stamos: and I'll have a 5 page scene with someone, Parminder for instance
John Stamos: I'll be holding my sides and she'll know the scene and will be blasting it out
John Stamos: It's like "Jesus, who am I dealing with here??!!"
Shamrock: hee.
HollywoodStar: Interesting.
John Stamos: These people are some of the best actors on television, hands down.
BC: What drew you to "ER"?
Aura: lol sneak attack
John Stamos: They're so unassuming as actors and as people, that you get confused at how great they are.
K-Dogg: it was a much needed career revival!
John Stamos: Some of the original cast, George and Anthony Edwards
BC: ITA, K-Dogg.
Rob L: John, what do you regard as your career highlight to date?
K-Dogg: although you were great on FRIENDS
John Stamos: they set a standard where you come to work and you're a working actor, we all have the same size trailers, there is no favoritism and everyone gets treated equally, whether your Maura Tierney
John Stamos: or whoever, it doesn't matter
Boomer: Are you an Emmy voter yourself? What sorts of shows and TV performers did you enjoy this past season?
Shamrock: and why they are still on the air.
Tom O'Neil: oh, those trailer wars!
HollywoodStar: It started with George Clooney. Its been on ever since.
Tom O'Neil: Yeah, are YOU an Emmy voter?
HollywoodStar: Thats a huge deal.
John Stamos: There is no star treatment on that show. Which has always been the way it was for me, I was always the star of my show, and I've really learned humility and what's it's like to be an actor, a working class actor.
BTN: Did you have any help choosing a tape Tierney is the only regular to get a nomination since 2000
John Stamos: That's what it's about at the end of the day.
BTN: sorry
Rob L: Yeah, John - what shows do you watch and admire?
Shamrock: great attitude John. I admire that
Tom O'Neil: Are YOU an Emmy voter, John?
John Stamos: They've just set a standard, I'm not sure how they've been able to keep it.
HollywoodStar: Is there a dream actor you would like to work with that you haven't already?!
John Stamos: I am not, I guess I should be though, right?
John Stamos: Ha!
John Stamos: I'll have to look into it though, won't I..
Shamrock: hee. You should!
Rob L: What WOULD you vote for?
Boomer: If you lose by one vote, you will wish you had joined.
HollywoodStar: Mayb e you can vote for yourself John!.
Tom O'Neil: Yeah, ya should enroll with the academy and do the at=home judging thang
HollywoodStar: Might furuther your chances at winning.
Boomer: What sorts of TV shows and actors/actresses do you enjoy?
Tom O'Neil: What's the status on "Raisin"? WHEN will we finally see it?
JustJen: If you could guest star on any TV show, which would it be and why?
BTN: do you ever watch Grey's anatomy or House
John Stamos: "Raisin in the Sun" will get every nomination, they'll invent new awards for that one
John Stamos: It's a spectacular piece
Tom O'Neil: It's a steady fave with awards -- has been through the years
John Stamos: I have a very small piece and I'm very lucky to be a part of it. I've scene it and it's powerful.
HollywoodStar: Do you keep in touch with anyone from Full House?! I grew up on that show, lol.
John Stamos: I play the only white guy.
BTN: ha!
Tom O'Neil: You get top billing at IMDB.com
HollywoodStar: Yeah...I saw that Tom.
Rob L: I have been looking forward to this for ages. Can't wait...
John Stamos: I was just on vacation in Greece with Bob.
Tom O'Neil: TWO vacations?!
Shamrock: nice.
BC: 2 vacations? Jiminy!
Tom O'Neil: Greece and Japan! Ah, the actors' life!
Rob L: John - Sydney - any plans? What are you looking forward to for your upcoming vacation?
HollywoodStar: I saw a picture of that one actually. It was on a website or something.
Aura: Yeah I was amazed to see that the Olsen twins recently turned 21, when Uncle Jesse doesn't look any older than that himself.
BC: lol, Aura.
Tom O'Neil: ha
HollywoodStar: Cool you keep in touch with Bob.
John Stamos: Yes, well..
Rob L: good one Aura - it's true!
BC: Bob Saget?
Boomer: You were extremely funny with Conan O'Brien a few weeks ago!! Do you enjoy doing the various talk shows?
John Stamos: I went to Greece for a little vacation, a little work in Japan, and press days in Australia
HollywoodStar: Funny how time went by for you guys. The Olsen Twins are now 21.
Rob L: Oh, I thought it was a vacation only - newspapers got it wrong.
John Stamos: I love the old school
John Stamos: When I was a kid, I couldn't go to sleep without having the Merv Griffin show playing on my TV.
K-Dogg: ever think about making a guest appearance on "1 vs. 100"?
Rob L: John - career highlight to date?
John Stamos: I would leave it on, I fell asleep to it every night.
Aura: Oh yeah what were you and Tom Selleck doing on Conan? I was half asleep and I saw you both exposing your belly buttons. Or did I dream that?
Tom O'Neil: Listening to Merv talking to Totie Fields
John Stamos: Burt Reynolds was always my hero..I just thought he was so funny, self-depricating
John Stamos: I was very happy with the Conan interview, I just thought it was so much fun.
Boomer: Yes, you, Tom Selleck and Conan O'Brien was hilarious. Great stuff.
John Stamos: For awhile I was watching talk shows, I thought I needed to be so serious.
Tom O'Neil: Yeah, you guys were really in synch jokin'
Rob L: JOhn, how about the current crop of great TV shows? Do you watch any of them?
John Stamos: I was watching a morning talk show with Clooney
Atypical: You're doing great work on "ER" this season John. It's some of your best work.
John Stamos: as accomplished as he is, they were still asking the same stupid questions as me
Tom O'Neil: of course, because the media twits are so stupid
John Stamos: At the end of the day, people want to be entertained on those shows, people want to see you tell stories and goof around.
Aura: You know the fans don't actually want to know the answers to those questions.
2007-06-18 16:19:54.0
Tom O'Neil: that's it, John -- bingo
Boomer: Speaking of George Clooney, are you an actor that also wants to write or direct? I'll bet you've got the clout to direct some E.R. episodes if you want.
BTN: Did you submit the episode where it is learned that you are not the girls father
Rob L: Very true. It humanizes celebs
John Stamos: I grew up with Burt and Don Rickles, Dean Martin, they're my heroes on talk shows.
Boomer: John's episode is "Murmers of the Heart".
John Stamos: I'm going to make an effort now to book shows where I feel I can play off other guests, where they stay.
John Stamos: I think that's more fun.
Paul Sheehan: loved when u and rickles were on leno together
HollywoodStar: Alrighty, nice chattin' with ya John.
John Stamos: Ha ha, I paved the way for punks like George Clooney
Atypical: Do you miss working on "Jake in Progress", or do you like this chance to do more dramatic work on "ER"?
Boomer: Host your own talk show when E.R. is finished.
Rob L: hehehe
Aura: Yeah I agree. My estimation of an actor usually goes up if they're great on a talk show.
John Stamos: but in all honesty, the man has been nothing but totally respectul to me and is a great inspiration.
2007-06-18 16:21:11.0
Bug: Ellen Degeneres always has entertaining interviews I think. She is good at messing around and being funny.
John Stamos: I'll walk into a party and he'll stop the party and say "Hey, the best looking guy at the party just showed up.."
BC: Lol, John.
John Stamos: I admire him for what he's done, I've known him since we started together basically, 25 years ago.
John Stamos: A lot of people don't know, I did Ocean's 1-10 first, they went straight to video though..
Boomer: Speaking of George Clooney, are you an actor that also wants to write or direct? I'll bet you've got the clout to direct some E.R. episodes if you want.
JustJen: lol
Tom O'Neil: yeah, clooney started out in TV, too, of course
Bug: haha
Shamrock: haha
John Stamos: If I could pick one role model, George would be it, and not because of what he's accomplished, but because of the human being he is.
Rob L: John, who would you love to work with (that you haven't yet)?
John Stamos: When he has big hair on Facts of Life, I started the big hair thing..
Tom O'Neil: Clooney's a good role model to have
BC: That's how the big hair thing began, lol.
Aura: His hair got it's own billing though it was so big.
2007-06-18 16:23:23.0
John Stamos: Ellen is very smart
Shamrock: So what kind of work are you doing in Japan?
John Stamos: She'll be spontaneous with you
John Stamos: You know, those talk shows, they're very specific about the questions they ask you
Bug: Yes. Makes the interview a lot more entertaining that way.
John Stamos: Ellen likes to be thrown off and I like to throw her off
John Stamos: Conan likes to be thrown off too
BTN: ellen keeps winning emmy after emmy
Aura: you do pre-interviews most times right?
John Stamos: Talk shows are an interesting thing.
Tom O'Neil: Ellen and Conan are both practised comedians -- used to working a room -- know how to handle improv
John Stamos: Not to drop names, but I was at dinner with Tom Hanks and we talked about talk shows for an hour
BC: wow.
John Stamos: because we sit down and work on material.
Tom O'Neil: what's his philosophy on talk shows?
Atypical: What's been your best experiences working on "ER" John, and do you miss working on comedies like "Jake in Progress"?
BTN: get hanks to guest on ER
2007-06-18 16:25:02.0
John Stamos: Tom and I were on Rosie together, we said hi, then tried our stuff out on each other.
John Stamos: For me, to be more spontaneous, I have to work on it a lot.
Tom O'Neil: he's a good one to riff with, yeah
mediumfan: Of all the actors that you have worked with, who is your favorite and why?
Paul Sheehan: yes - planned spontaneity is always the way to go
BTN: do you ever bring that to your performance on ER
Tom O'Neil: How much time per year do you give to "E.R"?
John Stamos: If anyone is lucky enough to meet Tom Hanks, he is every bit of Tom Hanks and more.
BC: I <3 Tom Hanks.
John Stamos: He is so great, he's like the greatest guy on the planet, everything you'd want him to be, he is. Sometimes we go to dinner and laugh.
John Stamos: His wife Rita is Greek.
BC: Really?
John Stamos: We have a Greek contingency in LA. Rita, Nia Vardalos
BTN: She produced MBFGW!!!
John Stamos: Maria Menounos
BTN: I remember hearing that then
BTN: Melinda Kanakredes
Tom O'Neil: sounds like you Greeks have a secret conspiracy going on
Shamrock: funny funny movie.
John Stamos: We have a Greek group that meets once a month and Tom will come every once in awhile, it's just the LA Greeks.
John Stamos: Melina is a friend of mine..
BTN: Do you ever watch CSI NY? SHE's great
Tom O'Neil: How much time does doing "E.R." take every year?
John Stamos: My hair and make-up artist on Cabaret.
JustJen: Tom went to college here in Sac
John Stamos: I flew him out for Jake in Progress, but the show was on shakey ground, I introduced him to Melina
John Stamos: now he works on her show
BTN: nice
Aura: Did you want to do more Broadway?
Shamrock: nice
John Stamos: "ER" has a very strange schedule
John Stamos: Usually a hiatus will start in may
BC: What is their schedule like?
John Stamos: and you'd go back in July.
John Stamos: So many of the writers and actors have kids, we work a little later
John Stamos: till like the end of May and go back in August
Rob L: John - still celebrating Greece's win at the Euro championships (soccer)?
BTN: A lot of the other stars of ER have traveled to other countries and parts of the US is there anywhere you would want to go? Greece maybe
Atypical: Are you happy with your tape submission to the Emmys this year John? Did you have other tapes in mind to choose from?
John Stamos: We shoot episodes 21 and 22 of the current season
mediumfan: Are you planning to stay with "ER" for a while or do you have other projects that you'd like to pursue?
John Stamos: and 1 and 2 of next season.
John Stamos: It's kind of confusing, but when I start in August, I'll start in episode 3.
John Stamos: Last year we did 23 episodes.
John Stamos: The first episode back in September
John Stamos: is hands down the best hour of television I've ever been involved in my entire life
BTN: wow
BTN: looking forward to it
Bug: So I suppose you know what happens to Neela and Gates? I'm a little scared for Neela's safety I must say.
Shamrock: You are great in it too.
Boomer: What is the subject matter of that first episode? Any major guest stars?
BTN: i almost forgot about the trampling of neela
John Stamos: It's very interesting, I thought it was really smart
BC: Trampling of Neela?
John Stamos: it really fuels the first 3-4 episodes of next season.
Bug: It was very intense.
BTN: great showcase for you and neela
John Stamos: She really gets hurt, it creates a lot of conflict in the hospital, we all want to take care of her.
BTN: i mean parminder
John Stamos: I thought it was a really smart story arc.
mediumfan: Wow, can't wait for that. Sounds intense.
Rob L: JOhn, Parminder Nagra is such a great UK actress. What's she like to work with?
Shamrock: Sounds great. I for one am excited about it.
John Stamos: Stanley Tucci is coming back
Tom O'Neil: yippee
Boomer: What is Tucci like to work with?
John Stamos: I think there's a rumor Noah Wyle is coming back for 2 episodes.
Bug: Ah, yes. He was really outstanding in the finale.
Rob L: Tucci is awesome. Wyle - wow!
John Stamos: I think we're at the point now
Tom O'Neil: Noah is a trouper
BTN: tucci was great, i watched 3lbs and he was great ER
JustJen: There are a lot of great movies out this summer. Have you seen any and which is your favorite so far? Besides Oceans 13 of course.
John Stamos: We'll know pretty soon, but I think we're taking each season now as our last.
Shamrock: wow. That would be pretty great.
John Stamos: I would definitely stay in business with these fine people, John Wells, David Zabel, Chris Chulak.
Rob L: Is there much talk of Emmy nominations on the set, or with producers? You guys hoping for some more nominations this year?
Tom O'Neil: They're a class act of gifted pros
Atypical: What was it like to have Forest Whitaker on "ER" this season?
John Stamos: We never talk about that kind of stuff, awards and nominations.
Bug: Is there any certain storyline you'd like to see your character embark on?
Rob L: Fair enough
John Stamos: I really didn't work with Forest much, but he was a real gentleman.
Tom O'Neil: Wells has so many awards, he's probably lost count
John Stamos: I know he worked very hard and I thought he added a lot to the show.
John Stamos: It's not hard to get people to come on the show.
Rob L: Forest Whitaker would have been so much fun - what a great actor
John Stamos: I think Stan is coming back for 5-6, Goran's coming back for 5-6.
John Stamos: They'll always be a leading man.
John Stamos: I'll fill in in between.
Atypical: Whitaker had one of the best story arcs of the season.
Rob L: What are your daily hours like on the set John?
John Stamos: Goran is just a prince of a guy.
Tom O'Neil: just don't upstage Noah Wylie -- you'll get in trouble
John Stamos: Maybe one of the nicest men I've ever met in my life.
John Stamos: Ha!
John Stamos: Who can upstage guys making a half a million an episode?
Rob L: hehehe
John Stamos: Impossible!
Tom O'Neil: Yikes
Shamrock: Hee!
Aura: lol
Guru: Do you still perform with the Beach Boys?
Tom O'Neil: Noah was wisely stayed consistently devoted to the show -- shows what a trouper he is
Rob L: Do you want to guest on any shows this upcoming season?
Atypical: What television shows are you into watching John?
Tom O'Neil: Yeah, what TV series would you LIKE to guest on?
John Stamos: I'm going on the road with the Beach Boys the whole month of July.
Tom O'Neil: what a blast!
Aura: in the US?
Shamrock: Where are you performing? US tour?
Rob L: That would be so much fun. Good for you
BTN: I remember that episode of full house
Rob L: me too!
John Stamos: Okay everyone, thanks so much, but I gotta get going.
BTN: thanks bye
Tom O'Neil: THANKS, John
Rob L: Great - thanks John! Have a blast in Australia!!!
John Stamos: Thanks for taking the time to chat today!
Bug: Thanks, John.
Aura: okay, thanks John. :)
JustJen: thanks John
Atypical: All the best John . . .
Tom O'Neil: We're working on getting you that Emmy nom
Guru: Good luck John - You should SNL
Boomer: Thanks so much, John.
Rob L: Fingers crossed!
Shamrock: Thanks John. Have a great time in Australia. How you get that Emmy nod
John Stamos: So nice!
