2 Emmy judges predict nominees for best drama & comedy series

Over the past few days the Emmy voter we've been calling Judge #1 hooked up with another voter who screened submissions for both comedy and drama series, too (let's call her Judge #4) and they incorporated their combined views into the big picture of how nominations are devised. That is, they took into account how the judges' scores will be combined in a 50/50 mix — yes, just like you see on "Dancing with the Stars"! — with results of the original popular vote that determined the Top 10 run-off. "These are not who we want, but merely who we think will be nominated," stresses Judge #1.

I VOTE BY PEOPLE HOW HAVE VISION FOR THE FUTURE IS INTELIGENTE FASTER AND EXCELLENCE ACTRESS GOOD COMEDY I SOME DAYS ON TV.

I think that James Gandolfini and Edie Falco should have been given the award for best Actor and Actress. Come on the Sopranos was the best show on TV. The other shows were borrrring compared to it. Its all about Italian people and Their Life. They should have won. They were very good actors.

who is David Chase? Good job, but im sure he got all of his information from Italian People. He isnt Italian. Give credit where it is due.

My dad used to say, that when people didn't give their names... they were just cowards, and when the media cites secret sources, they're lying through their teeth. Given the times we live in, i'm totally saying this is all BS. Those judges, non-existant. this column, just wild speculation,

At this point, only 2 and a half men doesn't seem to fit in the comedy category (and amongst the rumoured final 10) but apparently they submitted a killer ep.

Still, how can 24 and Grey's get nods in such a poor year? I agree. Lost and Friday Night Lights totally deserve spots (and How I Met Your Mother and Brothers and Sisters deserved spots in the final 10 at least).

I think they will reward Heroes just cause its new and splashy even though its fun but slightly better than mediocre at best. Im not sure if the spreading the nominees amongst the networks was purposeful but it does seem it will end up resulting that way.

God I hope this is wrong. HEROES became good in the middle of its season than completely underperformed in the final five or six episodes. I also believe that HEROES will fade out over the next few years. Heroes should NOT get a nod without LOST. Which brings me to my next point.

WHERE IS LOST? I know these choices are only predictions, but when is Emmy going to extinguish her hate for a truly beautiful show? This season was much better than its second and every TV buff out there KNOWS it should be nominated.

Even though I don't watch these shows, I KNOW that GREY'S had a somewhat dissapointing season and 24 had an INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING SEASON. So why are they nominated? To be truthful, from what I've seen of Greys' 3rd season, I would much rather IT be nominated than 24.

Also, I don't watch Friday Night Lights, but all I've heard are good things. Where is it on this list? MRS. EMMY IS DUMB.

Seriously, if I hear Two and a Half Men called out on the 19th, I will upchuck all over my television.

I'm going to scream bloody murder if 24, Grey's and Heroes, get nods over Brothers & Sisters, Lost and Friday Night Lights. 24 was awful this season, as was Grey's, but they will probably get recognized in the emmy's for last season's amazing seasons, and because they are more mainstream and popular than Lost, B&S and FNL. Heroes started great, but it's not nearly as good as Lost, I'm okay with Heroes getting a nod, but only if Lost gets one too.

As for the comedies I would've liked to seen the under-appreciated How I Met Your Mother getting a nod, - and Scrubs too. Anyway, I'm glad for The Office beeing a hot candidate for the emmy's as well as Ugly Betty and 30 Rock.

It would be a shame if "24" got in over "Lost." "24" completely sucked this year, "Lost" totally owned.

24/Heroes/Grey's Anatomy over Lost?

Lost was AMAZING this season, 24 was shockingly awful, and Grey's and Heroes will fade into the background over the next couple of years.

CC --- you talk as if it's the networks that are pulling influence to get their shows nominated, but at this point it's the voters in the tv academy; the networks from this point have nothing to do with it.

I agree with judges' predictions-that's the lineup I think we'll see when the nominations are announced.

Look at the network breakdown of this potential lineup of drama and comedy nominees:

ABC: 2
CBS: 1
NBC: 3
FOX: 2
HBO: 2

Right now, I believe that ATAS is more concerned that the wealth is being spread around than they are about rewarding excellence. They don't want to see one network hogging all the nominations-even if it isn't fair to certain series.

NBC will definitely get three nods in the drama and comedy categories combined. I will be shocked if they get four. It's possible Friday Night Lights will sneak in, but I doubt it. NBC would rather see Heroes, their breakthrough hit last season, get the nod over fellow newbie Friday Night Lights, which is unlikely to ever be a ratings blockbuster. And if there's a struggling show that the Emmy voters are going to embrace and give a boost to, it will be 30 Rock, not Friday Night Lights.

Fox should be able to get both House and 24 in the drama race. Why? Well, because those two shows ARE the Fox network outside of American Idol.

Similarly, CBS should be able to snag a comedy nom for Two and a Half Men-it's the only show on their schedule that could possibly get one of those ten series slots.

ABC might be able to get a third slot for either Lost or Desperate Housewives. Lost probably deserves to get into the drama race over Grey's Anatomy, but ABC figures Grey's is more "popular".

And of course, HBO has to have their darlings, The Sopranos and Entourage, in the mix. Entourage might left out, but I doubt it.
