UPDATED: Actors on Emmy's Top 10 pre-noms lists
Here's an updated list of some of the actors reported to have made Emmy's pre-noms run-off. Sample episodes featuring the performances of 10 actors in each category are being screened by judges now. Judges rank all 10 entries against each other. Their scores will then be combined on a 50/50 basis with results of the original popular vote (yes, the same method you see on TV on "Dancing with the Stars"!) of academy members and results will determine the final nominees, which will be announced on July 19. CLICK HERE to see what sample episodes are being screened.

The fact that "Heroes" is nominated and not "LOST" or "The Wire" shows how relevant the Emmy's really are when it comes to truly good writing, acting and pretty much anything else that contributes to a quality show.
The story/characters on "Heroes" are so cliche it's absolutely laughable. I find myself finishing the character's sentences because you just insert the most cliche, overused statement they could possibly make.
I've watched 14 episodes of "Heroes" and desperately wanted to like it, to have something to watch between seasons of "LOST"...but the Hiro character what is he nominated for? NOTHING ever happens to him. He just finds randomn stuff to do like chase after a sword or save some girl that ends up not progressing any type of story line at all.
Matthew Fox was excellent this season- any actor from LOST is hands down more impressive than any character from "Heroes"...
I mean, c'mon the stripper with the heart of gold and the little boy genius child (coughJerryMcGuirecough) or the cheerleader with the "dorky" friend (coughprettyinpinkcough) or the cop who hears people's thoughts and uses that on his wife (coughwhatwomenwantcough).
For the love of God "Heroes" do something original!

Geez!!! ROBERT SEAN LEONARD snubbbed by the EMMY's again. Okay I can understand Hugh Laurie even though he's my second favorite actor AFTER RSL, But I don't get how David Morse gets an Emmy nod and RSL doesn't. I am totally disgusted and I blame it on showrunners David Shore and Katie Jacobs.

I'm glad to see Patricia Arquette on this list. She delivers weekly plus this year I think we saw some of her best acting. Did you guys hear that she gets so into her work that it actually makes her sick? She was recently feeling a little under the weather and we recently learned that it was because of some of the intense material they had on Medium this season.
Plus, I would just like to add this. Where is Jake Weber? Are any of you guys watching Medium? I don't think you are because he delivered us some fantastic supporting actor work. You could just see it in his face, you know what I mean? Fantastic actor and way overdue if you ask me!

Where is JENSEN ACKLES?

What about Sally Fields from "Brothers and Sisters"! (She kicks ass on that show.) And how is Jon Cryer supporting when talentfree Charlie Sheen is the lead. Both are Leads and neither one deserve to be nominated. I hope Kenneth from "30 Rock" gets nominated over one-note Piven, last year's winner. No one is mentioning "Boston Legal" with great talent like Spade and Shatner. Thank God for the Golden Globes who gives credit where credit is do and not wait a few years to give out awards after the fact....yep, that means you, Emmy.

I feel like my friends and I are the only people watching this show, but nothing for How I Met Your Mother?? I really thought the Slap Bet episode was the funniest episode I saw of anything all year. At least let Neil Patrick Harris get a nod for Supporting Actor.

How in the world is Bradley Whitford getting overlooked again (not getting nominated for The West Wing in the prior year was a sin considering he WAS the show last year!)? His performance in the last episode of Studio 60 was TOP even if the series wasn't the best.

LOST is the greatest, most brilliant show on TV!!
Where are Michael Emerson, Elizabeth Mitchell, Terry O'Quinn, and even Josh Holloway for his INCREDIBLE performance in The Brig!!
And...of course, Miatthew Fox!!!! What a performance on the finaleee!!!

I can't believe that Cold Case didn't even make the top 10 in the best drama category. It's one of the best shows on television.
I really hope that Jenna Fischer, Elizabeth Mitchell and Michael Emerson make the short lists for their respective categories. I won't be watching if all of them get snubbed.
I would also love to see Allison Mack on the top 10 list but considering that Smallville is a CW show, that does seem very unlikely.

If Ali Larter or Hayden Panettiere doesn't get in the Top 10, i too won't be watching the Emmys.

Yes, Bergen opted to not submit herself this year. Too bad Ellen Burstyn didn't do the same last year.

I know it was cancelled but Kidnapped had some extremely good actors, Dana Delaney was exceptional but I know she will not be recognised.
Becki Newton should be in supporting comedy actress and Dave Annable from Brothers & Sisters should get a nod too.

Hey what about Mariska Hargitay?
She has done some phenomenal work this year - as has Chris Meloni - both on SVU.
Sally Field and Mariska are my top two picks for best actress in a drama..

I don't see Candice Bergen's name on the submitted Master List of potential nominees (dated June 20) in either Lead or Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for "Boston Legal". Does anyone know... did she elect not to submit this year, similar to her stance in the waning years of "Murphy Brown" after winning so many statuettes?

I would never have said this until this year, but I'm really rooting for Steven Schirripa of "The Sopranos" in the Best Supporting Actor category. While I'm also hopeful for Robert Iler (both had breakout seasons, I think) I would almost say that Schirripa's work in "Soprano Home Movies" is award worthy. Not bad for a bit-playing character in a show with many, many significant and showy roles. Does anyone know if Schirripa made the short list?

i hope jenna fischer gets nominated, she's great on the office

Lauren Graham deserves to get a nomination. She was great on Gilmore Girls for the past 7 seasons and if she does not get recognized for it i will not watch it.

You forget KYLE CHANDLER AND CONNIE BRITTON...they are brilliant and he deserve more atention...He is a great actor...and a hot guy...The " academy" always forget KYLE CHANDLER....his role in Early Edition and Lion´s Den was great....but they never indicate this awesome actor for awards...THAT IS AMAZING!!!

OMG!!!! I am disgusted as to how Brothers and Sisters did not even get mentioned. By far the best drama and one of the best ensemble cast on TV!

Will there be more updates here, because I've been checking every day.

What about Brothers & Sisters ?? Maybe a nomination for Best Drama Series was a long shot but if Sally Field doesn't make the top 10 for best actress that's just scandalous !! Rachel Griffiths also deserves supporting.
Posted by: florent | July 07, 2007 at 02:36 AM
I agree that Sally Field and Rachel Griffiths, at least, should be remembered from "Brothers and Sisters" and I really think the superb work of Tichina Arnold should be recognized from "Everybody Hates Chris." Oh, and YEAH to KYRA SEDGWICK and VANESSA WILLIAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!
