UPDATED: Actors on Emmy's Top 10 pre-noms lists

July 4, 2007 |  4:04 pm

Nicesurprises_2Here's an updated list of some of the actors reported to have made Emmy's pre-noms run-off. Sample episodes featuring the performances of 10 actors in each category are being screened by judges now. Judges rank all 10 entries against each other. Their scores will then be combined on a 50/50 basis with results of the original popular vote (yes, the same method you see on TV on "Dancing with the Stars"!) of academy members and results will determine the final nominees, which will be announced on July 19. CLICK HERE to see what sample episodes are being screened.

I have to disagree with previous posters about Masi Oka. He was the main reason I CONTINUED watching Heroes - as a proud geek myself, I was thrilled to see someone like him on tv. As much as I loved his sweet, innocent present-day character, when his dark, confident, sword-wielding future self showed up I was blown away. I couldn't believe it was the same actor. His character is unique, with the potential to grow and change over time into something truly amazing - and Masi has the talent to pull it off. Just my personal opinion - but if Masi wins an Emmy (or is even just nominated) I will be ecstatic.

What happened to the Brothers and Sisters acotrs and actresses????

Nice to see Patricia Arquette made it into the top 10, as most knew she would, based on buzz and her fun tape submission.
Let us hope that she is rewarded this year with an Emmy nom, as she was regretably snubbed last year.

About the Academy forgetting Studio 60, I imagine that like me they were so disappointed that the show wasn't what it should have been that they've just put everybody out of their minds.

Plus, you gotta look at the episodes that the actors submitted. They might not be able to stand with some of this season's work, which at times was remarkable.

If it were going to be anyone from the show it would probably be Steven Weber, but I don't know if I'm just saying that because I enjoy his blog posts at Huffington Post or if there was really enough there for him in the show.

And thawtful1, if the show would have been a show about a TV show or a network it would have been fine, it just turned out to be a show about US-China relations, religion, and politics, and that's not what I was sold last year at this time.

You can check out all my Studio 60 posts at these two links:

Again the academy forgets Bradley Whitford? What are they smoking over there? Whitford WAS The West wing last year (it's final season). This year, he's outdone himself every episode of Studio 60! Come on, folks!

Now, I'm just gonna pretend that most of the people commenting on this page weren't privileged enough to have seen Rome this season, because let me just tell you, the cast of that show is probably the best of any drama this year. First and foremost, I have to pay mad respect to James Purefoy for his knock-out performance of Marc Antony; he made that character repulsive, sexy, shrewd, and vulnerable all at the same time. The fact that he wasn't recognized in its first season (along with Ciaran HInds) was a travesty. Polly Walker, as Atia, nailed the role of the inherently flawed, opportunistic, vengeful mother of Octavian in its first season, but added a layer of heartache and naivete to her character this season. She was recognized with a nomination at the Golden Globes in 2005, but was shut-out of the Emmys. And let's not forget Kevin McKidd and Ray Stevenson, who portrayed the common plebs (Vorenus and Pullo, respectively) entangled in legendary events. The chemistry of their friendship was probably the hardest part of the show for me to let go, and that's just a testiment to how well they nailed their respective parts.

I know, I'm gushing. Just buy the DVDs to see what I mean. You won't regret it.

Oh and one more thing: Battelstar Gallactica. Far and away one of the best series on television.

Okay, I'm done, I SWEAR!!!! :)

Just asking: are there any Shark fans here?
Just asking.

And I support Robert Sean Leonard, too.

I can accept with resignation the lack of Studio 60 in the series column but there's no justice in this world if Steven Weber is ignored. Ideally Matthew Perry would be recognized as well. They all acted their socks off but those two were highlights and surprised those of us already in their corner as comedic actors. Matthew backed it up with The Ron Clark Story and he needs to take home an award already. If it weren't crazy to hope (since Studio 60 only made it one season), Steven did such a good job as Jack Rudolph I'd watch a spinoff for his character any day. Some argue that would've been a good series to start with.

Lauren Graham should to get nonmainted for comedy Actress she desevred it she is very good actor!!!! I want to see her more winner award anything!!!!

"Eddie Izzard playing a straight (and straight-laced) man?
He gets my vote for acting!
Posted by: Kasey"

Eddie IS straight, however still a fabulous actor. :)

Where is Scott Porter and other cast members from Friday Night Lights. Scott Porter has done some exceptional, Brilliant work.

I am crossing my fingers for House and Hugh Laurie! The man deserves an Emmy! I agree that Robert Sean Leonard should have been nominated for Best Supporting he is great. Too bad there is no category for best duo in a Dramedy!

"Brother s and Sisters" ignored? And Lauren Graham continues to be ignored? I aint watching.

Okay. WHY is Criminal Minds NOT up there? That list is HORRIBLE.

Criminal Minds is one OF THE BEST SHOWS ON TV RIGHT NOW.

And plus, I agree with that other poster: WHERE IS NIP/TUCK??

I knew there is a reason why I don't watch The Emmys.

Eva Longoria? C'mon, she's really not much of an actress, is she? Plus, she's nominated in the wrong category. Housewives is not a comedy.

And furthermore, I'm tired of seeing her everywhere. I swear I opened an envelope the other day and she showed up wearing Dolce & Gabbana and looking for Billy Bush to interview her.

I really hope Jesse L. Martin of Law And Order is one of the Dramatic Actors nominated. I mean first, Law And Order is the second longest running drama series. Second, though Eddie is a wonderful actor, Mr. Martin has been on the show for eight years and has yet to be nominated. Yet people are on shows for a few episodes (or piss off fans in the finale) and they seem to be nominated.

Where is Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler??? Ellen Pompeo should not be on that list. What did she do this year but wine and wine and wine. "Seriously"!!!! Replace her with Britton. And if Chiklis and Goggins are not on this list, this new system is just as horrific and laughable as the previous systems.

How Terry O'Quinn doesn't win supporting is beyond me. Locke had 3 flashbacks this year and Terry was exceptional as usual in every frame!

Are you kidding me!?! I certainly hope this list is erroenous. Denis Leary for Best Actor? Where in the world is Walt Goggins?? Not to mention Michael Chiklis being skipped -- AGAIN. This is ridiculous! Let me guess, The Shield doesn't get a Best Drama nod either. Ugh.

I hope Anthony LaPaglia, Roselyn Sanchez, and Marg Helgenberger gert recognized. I am
tired of procedurals being treated like tv's bastard child because they are not serialized
thespiany shopws. They deserve just as much respect for their actrors too.

No Studio 60? It was my favorite show and I hope it ends up getting at least one nomination.

Where is Lauren Graham for Gilmore girls? Please give her a nom she sooooo deserves it. And Wentworth Miller for Prisonbreak? Are they blind in the Academy?

What about Eva Longoria? Why isn't she nominated? I really think she deserves at least that...She did good this year and I liked her the most...All the ladies were good but my favorite will always be Eva!!!

Okay now, repeat after me:
MARY LUNN RAJSKUB
MARY LYNN RAJSKUB
MARY LYNN RAJSKUB

What about Nip Tuck??Great show!!It's a shame...I think it's brilliant and daring!!
