Who got snubbed: Here's the Emmy Hall of Shame!
How ironic. The Emmys changed their voting system this year just to make sure "Lost" didn't get lost in the race for best drama series โ and it happened AGAIN. The fact that "24" got snubbed ain't no big deal, though. TV critics say, frankly, it didn't deserve a shot.
Here's a hoot. I was just griping to Steve Gorman of Reuters over the fact that Michael C. Hall wasn't nommed for "Dexter." He shrugged and said, "Yeah, it's kind of sad. They'll nominate a gangster like Tony Soprano, but they draw the line at a serial killer!" The Emmys have standards! Who knew?
Here's what else got axed:

What's with all the hate towards Boston Legal? It is such a fantastic show. If you don't believe me, go out and rent 2nd season (1st season was a lot more spotty, hadn't quite figured out what the show was going to be yet). I was so mad that the character from Boston Legal that has Aspergers syndrome didn't win for Best Guest Star in a Drama Series or whatever he was nominated for. The chemistry between James Spader and William Shatner is amazing as two men who disagree about everything but somehow are best friends. "Anything Denny Crane can do, I can do backwards and in heels..." ~Alan Shore
I agree about Jason Lee for My Name is Earl, John C, McGinley from Scrubs, and definitely Lauren Graham for Gilmore Girls. I haven't gotten to see Dexter, though I really want to. I didn't understand all the hoopla about The Starter Wife, but I don't often watch made-for-TV movies anymore. No time for even regular TV.

Very surprised that Charles Lane didn't make the "In Memoriam List". Although not a household name, he had one of the most recognizable faces in both television and cinema. Try this link: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0485272/
or look him up on the Internet Movie Database website. Once you see his photograph and review his filmography, I'm sure most would agree he should have received a mention.

NIP/TUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant believe how this show has not been nominated. Its like a good wine. It only gets better with age. Way better than The Sopranos, Grays and all that other jazz. Heroes is the only other show that even compares.

Glaring omissions...
Oded Fehr/Sleeper Cell
Walton Goggins/The Shield
Joely Richardson/Nip-Tuck
Robert Knepper/Prison Break
Peter Dinklage/for his guest stint on Nip/Tuck
Kristen Bell/Veronica Mars
Callie Thorne/Rescue Me
The Sopranos did not deserve to win for Best Drama this year.

I am so sorry that Kristen Bell was left off the nomination list. Everybody knows she carried that show on her back each year that it was on. Good Kristen, on the new show with HEROES.

Come on well should know by now that these awards show are all about the three P's: public relations, publicity and payola...
One great example is the miniseries 'the starter wife" What a bunch of marketing hooey and hype for months and months for one product PONDS. Then it would have been digestible until the ending when the main character Debra Messing looks at a billboard with a GIANT PONDS AD ON IT>>>> vomit...
COME ON PRODUCT PLACEMENT I GUESS
AND THIS IS UP FOR AN AWARD?????
MAYBE GIGI GINA AND DEBRA WILL SHOW UP AT THE EMMY"S WITH SIGNS ON THEIR ASSES NOT SAYING LUCKY BUT DOVEY! IS that creative licensing or compromising positions???
TALK ABOUT PAYOFFS---AN EMMY NOMINATION IN EXCHANGE for ads by Ponds I wonder if they are sponsors of the EMMY"S also....and we think political lobbyist are bad. Come on girls prostituting is not just selling your body.

I read the nominee list but NONE of the shows I watched were on there. I come to this article about snubs, lo and behold, there is a show in almost every category that I watch. I guess I'm out of the loop of what's considered popular or mainstream.

What about Big Love? Its cast is absolutely amazing, especially Chloe Sevigny, Bill Paxton, Grace Zabriskie and Harry Dean Stanton. The storyline is bold and original and the characters the most well-written we've ever seen.

I thought It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia would be a lock for Best Comedy, or at least writing. Maybe even Supporting Actor for Danny DeVito

If Jason Lee doesn't get something out of all this, I'm giving UP!!!
Posted by: BUSYBEE527 | August 24, 2007 at 06:29 PM
THE L WORD?
why is that show always forgotten? Jennifer Beals continues to deliver great performances season after season, yet it is never aknowledged.

I am so over Desperate Housewives! I am so over Reality Television, except American Idol (they can keep that one). And who in the hell watches Boston Legal?? I have yet to meet anyone that does.
Don't get me wrong, I love my TV, but there is so rarely a show that doesn"t follow a "stop-watch" timed storyline (ala' Law and Order, for example), that any award show is becoming a joke. They only show I really respect anymore are the Golden Globes.
Not all of us TV fans are morons. We can handle a little plot.

What about Nip/Tuck? While I'll be the first to admit that this past season was definitely the show's weakest, when will the spectacular work of Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon finally get recognized? And it's also a shame that Michael Chiklis and Walton Goggins of The Shield didn't get nominated. Christopher Meloni of Law and Order: SVU probably deserved a shot, too.

John C McGinley from Scrubs just keeps getting screwed over againg and again...
Posted by: silverpenguin | August 12, 2007 at 10:24 AM
OK! It's Saturday night and I ain't got nobody. And, as a fan of good TV, I get sucked into these award nominations and get pissed, sometimes...!! Bottom line, I'm a "Freaks & Geeks", "Homicide: Life on the Street", etc. type of fan! I don't need to be spoon-fed formulaic crap. I can appreciate it sometimes, but try to preach the gospel of "new and different". I do get upset when I hear avid TV viewers talk and have no idea who Frank Pempleton is (was)! And the fact that "Homicide" kept getting kicked in the ratings by "Walker: Texas Ranger"! "Blind faith is the crutch of fools!"
So... "Brotherhood"! A Peabody Award winner!! Nothing!?!? "The Wire"!!! All the kids should have been nominated!!! "Dexter"! "The Shield"!!! Esp. CCH Pounder!!!
May I please rant?? I'm really sick of all the aforementioned support posts, and nominations, for "Heroes", "Sopranos", "24" (I'm a fan, but nothing, absolutely nobody's performance, save for maybe Powers Boothe, stood out), "Desperate Housewives", "Grey's Anatomy"...?!?! Even "Law & Order:.."!!
Finally... I was going to rant about the "guest actor category", but it's OK! My vote goes to Eli Wallach!
What about "Family Guy"?!?!?!?
Alright, I'm done. Thank you for listening! I'm going to go plug in a "West Wing" DVD...

The most glaring snub is Sarah Chalke's performance In "Why I Wore Lipstick"...to not be nominated while the movie is.
She was fantastic in that role and in my opinion that is one of the factors that made the movie -emmy-worthy.
What are they thinking???
Posted by: Debbie Wallace | July 24, 2007 at 10:40 PM
ellen pompeo should have got a nomination, the most deserving of all greys anaotmy cast. they all are overrated, seriously :(
Posted by: Jorge | July 23, 2007 at 05:02 PM
I'm so happy for 30ROCK!!.. but yeah, i'd have loved a nom for Lauren Graham, but obviously wasn't comming.. I hope next time around voters pay more atention to HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER.. amazing show...
Posted by: mauricio | July 22, 2007 at 05:08 PM
William Fichtner for Prison Break
Wentworth Miller for Prison Break
Elizabeth Mitchell for Lost
Adrian Pasdar for Heroes
Zachary Quinto for Heroes
Ali Larter for Heroes
ALL of these people got snubbed by Emmy...

How in the world did LAUREN GRAHAM Get Passed Up Again? She is such a GREAT actress! PURE TALLENT! Not only is she sarcastic, but she can pull of the searous drama stuff too. Its an insult to all television that she was not nominated. The only RESPECTABLE nomination in the lead actress in a drama series categorey is Sally Feild as Nora Walker in Brothers and Sisters. But Lauren Graham would have won anyway... Im VERY dissapointed.GRRR!!!
Posted by: Anna | July 21, 2007 at 09:45 AM
OK, once and for all, repeat after me = Lauren Graham is NOT a snub! By definition, a "snub" must be a surprising omission. She has not been nominated for SEVEN consecutive years. WTH is surpising about that?!? The only REAL SNUB worth discussing IMO is Michael C. Hall. His was a brilliant, dimensional, disturbing, fascinating portrayal; the most creative, original television performance in years - he not only deserved the nomination, he deserved to win. The only possible explanation for this GLARING OMISSION? The Academy must have determined the subject matter of the show itself to be too distasteful or offensive maybe to warrant any major nominations. I was certainly not surprised "Dexter" was not nominated, but Hall as "Best Dramatic Actor"?!? And BTW to Lauren Graham fans everywhere = if Hall is not nominated next year, it will NOT be a snub!
Posted by: TIM | July 21, 2007 at 08:19 AM
two and a half men is so bad. i've never understood why it's received a single nomination. michael c. hall deserves one, that's for damn sure. ugly betty is terrible, and julia louis dreyfuss isn't that good in new adventures. and did i mention two and a half men? it sucks!

David Dean Bottrell as Lincoln Meyer in Boston Legal Guest Actor Drama
Walton Goggins as Shane Vendrell in The Shield Supporting Actor Drama

Robert Sean Leonard (HOUSE), William Fichtner (Prison Break), and Jake Weber (Medium) all overlooked.
Posted by: Tash | July 20, 2007 at 03:17 PM
Where did all that Starter Wife love come from. Nobody predicted that...10 nominations. I didnt even think that part of it ran during the eligabilty period. Moreso, as much I enjoyed the light summertime fare (and I did like it)...it was basically a watered down Sex and the City. Just thoughts....
