The first time Robert Redford stepped behind the camera to direct, his "Ordinary People" swept the Oscars. Now he's calling the shots again with two-time Oscar champ Meryl Streep ("Sophie's Choice," "Kramer vs. Kramer") and Oscar wannabe Tom Cruise (three failed nominations) in a taut political drama about the U.S. involvement in Afghanistan. "Lions for Lambs" debuts in theaters on Nov. 9, followed by a major Oscar push by MGM, natch.
