Fishing for Tonys: 'Seafarer' docks & 'Lone Star Love' casts

August 2, 2007 | 11:39 am

Conor McPherson's "The Seafarer" docks at the Booth Theater Oct. 30 with opening night set for Nov. 15. This National Theater of Great Britain production stars current Emmy nominee David Morse and "Rome" star Ciaran Hinds as long-time rivals. And Jim Norton reprise his Olivier award winning role as a blind man who sees things clearly when these two enemies meet again after years apart. McPherson's last Dublin based drama, "Shining City," lost the 2006 best play Tony to "The History Boys."

"Lone Star Love," the off-Broadway tuner that sets Shakespeare's "The Merry Wives of Windsor" in the Wild West, has completed casting for its upcoming Broadway run. With music by the Red Clay Ramblers, a bluegrass band, the show bows at the Belasco Theater Nov. 1 after trying out in Seattle in September. Official opening night is set for Dec. 3. Oscar and Emmy nominee Randy Quaid makes his Broadway debut as Colonel Falstaff, who cons a range of ranchers including Tony nominees Robert Cuccioli and Dee Hoty.
