Sheen to shine again as Blair

October 2, 2007 |  9:22 am

Variety is reporting that Oscar nominee Peter Morgan is polishing off a script for a sequel of sorts to "The Queen" with Michael Sheen expected to reprise his BAFTA nominated role as Tony Blair. The chameleon actor first played the PM in "The Deal," a 2003 telefilm scripted by Morgan and directed by Stephen Frears that detailed the early '90s power-sharing agreement between Blair and the current Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

As per Variety, "the movie will focus on Blair's reaction to the handover of power from Clinton, a natural liberal ally, to Bush, who came from the other end of the political spectrum." Sheen is currently recreating his Olivier nominated performance as talk show host David Frost for Ron Howard's film version of Morgan's Tony nominated play "Frost/Nixon" with Tony winner Frank Langella reprising as the disgraced president.
