I have already voted. Am I late to vote to the actresses???

It wouldn't surprise me if Depp won. Most of the time the award is given for popularity and not merit. There are 8 others in this list who deserve it more than Johnny. But none as popular. Thats the joke of The Oscars!

Talk about chill delphic oracle, maybe you should head your own advice. I mean why are you getting so worked up about a poll that doesn't really mean anything, anyways? Grow up!

Wow, all you pathetic Johnny Depp fangirls need to f***ing chill! Your boy ain't going nowhere, this is Daniel Day Lewis' Oscar to lose.

Well spoken CalGal. I agree with you on the comment you made about winning an Oscar lately. It seems like you do have to do a sufficient amount of screaming and crying in a movie to win. A certain one comes to mind from a couple of years back. All the lead actor did was scream, cry and throw fits through the whole movie and he won Best Actor for that. That still baffles me today. Johnny Depp plays diversified roles and plays them very well but for some reason the Academy overlooks him. One day............

SInce Depp has been overlooked for Oscar over the years, he is due. This role appears to stretch him more than any role he's done. Just when I thought he couldn't top a performance, he pulls out another amazing one. It's difficult to tell what the Academy is looking for each year. Just from the trailer I just saw, I would say the film has Oscar written all over it. Of course, they could decide to go with the same old, same old and give it to actors who tend to do the same type of serious role all the time. Wait, don't you have to cry and scream in a film to get the Oscar anymore? At least it seems that way to me. I don't see any other actor listed in the poll that has such a varied career as Depp's, so I'm throwing my hat in with the Depp group on this one.

"...Plus Johnny does have the most loyal fan base of any actor today."

No kiddin'?

The trailer makes the film seem like any other dark Tim Burton flick, what with the musical aspect played down. Depp looks solid as usual, chewing the scenery enjoyably and the singing seems fine. It still doesn't scream Oscar.

Johnny Depp deserves the award as much as the next person. Early reviews are saying that his performance in Sweeney Todd is awesome and Oscar-worthy. So saying this was hijacked by a militant group of Johnny Depp fans is a little childish. Maybe people are just coming to their senses. Plus Johnny does have the most loyal fan base of any actor today.

I wouldn't say the poll has been "hijacked". Have you heard the buzz about Depp's performance in the film? From all I've read, it's been very positive. Look at the nominations for Chicago a few years ago; I don't think it's unrealistic to expect Depp to be nominated at all. It's always a tough race in the Male Actor category and I would definitely put Daniel Day Lewis up there as well, I heard he's wonderful in his film, too.

You can only vote once, believe me I've tried!! Ha! You just need to face the facts. Johnny Depp rules!

It seems the poll has been hijacked by a militant group of Johnny Depp -fans, voting over and over again. He may be overdue, but it's a dark, violent, friggin' musical, people! It's about as far removed from Oscar-friendly as can be. Even a nomination is uncertain at this point.

Tommy Lee Jones, Johnny Depp, Daniel Day Lewis, Denzel Washington, Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem are solid...it's gonna be a tough race...
