Everytime a movie is a hit actresses come out of the wood work saying how they turned it down... and i love how Whitney had no problem doing crack and becoming a drug addict, but doing a nude scene would be too disrespectful?

It was in Newsweek around June 2002.

Angela Bassett turned it down too. Right after Halle won, she was in Rollingstone or Vogue talking about how she didn't want to play a ho on screen. This led to rumors that Halle and Angela didn't like each other, but Angela said that when she saw the movie and told Halle "to go and get her Oscar."
Queen Latifah also turned it down.
