VIDEO: See Johnny Depp sing — yes, sing — 'Sweeney Todd'!

November 21, 2007 |  5:58 pm

Don't believe that Johnny Depp can sing? There have been many doubters, including Depp, who says in this video just released by DreamWorks, "Tim Burton and I spoke about doing the film and he asked me, 'Do you think you can do it? Do you think you can sing?' And the answer I gave him was 'I really don't know. I'll try!'" Now watch him sing "Epiphany" from "Sweeney Todd." CLICK HERE

I have to agree with Michael. This is hyped to death by now and I'm not at all impressed by his singing. It's unemotional to me.

Skipping this one.

oh my, oh my. Break my heart ! Isn't that what it is about? Not vocal range but emotional range - emotional communication? JD's always had that in spades and it looks like he's done it again. Hooray for you Johnny!

I've seen the trailer and yes, Johnny Depp can sort of sing, but not well enough to make his performance in Sweeney Todd something I'm looking forward to. Rather like Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady or Christopher Plummer in The Sound of Music the singing is, at best, adequate. Maybe the rest of his performance, like Harrison and Plummer's, will compensate.

I knew that Johnny would be able to do this because when Johnny Depp makes up his mind to do something he will be successful at it. I never had any doubt about his singing ability.

That was quite good. Impressive. He's got to be the frontrunner any way you... slice it.

Yes, he sings quite well and with much emotion. I'm glad that more of his singing is "getting out there."

Due to your overhype I don't even care to see ST any longer. I'm over it.
