My fearless, peerless, 100% accurate Golden Globe predictions
Daring to forecast the unpredictable Golden Globes is much like cliffdiving, which should always be done with a bit of bravado. While preparing this list, I've powwowed with lots of showbiz insiders and sources close to members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, so many of these are not blind calls. But, granted, making any Globe call is always risky. And always humbling after the list of final nominees is revealed, which will be done this week early Thursday morning.

Bill, I agree that Christie will probably win her category. But that still does not have anything to do with who should fill the other four slots. I can definitely see Foster and Jolie jumping in there, despite the fact that they almost certainly won't win.
I'm very surprised by how much "The Great Debaters" is pushed in this hotsheet. Not that I have a problem with it; I just didn't expect that to happen. We'll see soon enough if my skepticalism has any backing.

It is so wonderful that Viggo Mortensen is on your list, Tom. So well deserved and late in coming.
Just feel bad that David Cronenberg is not listed under best director.
and Howard Shore's theme is so haunting.

what about supporting?
Posted by: AJ | December 11, 2007 at 05:27 PM
The Fever doesn't even have an IMDb page... I don't know if Redgrave's getting a nom for that.
Jack Nicholson is campaigning for The Bucket List. Hanks and Hoffman are also strong contenders in his category. I can't see them overlooking all of them for Steve Carell and, um, John C. Reilly and Jim Sturgess?
Do you really think The Savages will be snubbed completely?

why did you didn't pick THERE WILL BE BLOOD?
Posted by: daniel | December 11, 2007 at 04:33 PM
Tom,
I don't think Russell Crowe will be there. James McAvoy was very good in "Atonement". I'll bet hes on the list.

I agree with most Tom but not Angelina Jolie or Jodie Foster. This category is Julie Christie's to lose.

i sense "there will be blood" will be dropped from best drama, but the list seems very accurate.
now, mr. o'neil, what about "best original score", and "best original song"? those are also categories in competition. any picks?
