Best Actor: Daniel Day Lewis, "There Will Be Blood"
Best Actress: Julie Christie, "Away from Her"
Best Supporting Actor: Javier Bardem, "No Country for Old Men"
Best Supporting Actress: Amy Ryan, "Gone Baby Gone"
Best Screenplay: Joel and Ethan Coen, "No Country for Old Men"
Best Foreign Film: "The Lives of Others"
Best Animated Film: "Persepolis"
Best Documentary: "No End in Sight"
Best First Film: Sarah Polley, "Away from Her"
Best Cinematographer: Robert Elswit, "There Will Be Blood"
Lifetime Achievement: Sidney Lumet
Special Critics' Award: Charles Burnett, "Killer of Sheep"

Let's go out on a limb here and predict the following:
Best Picture:
Atonement
No Country for Old Men
There Will Be Blood
Sweeney Todd
Into the Wild
Possibles: American Gangster--not a great movie really but entertaining and a box office hit..possible noms for Adapted Screenplay and Supporting actress Ruby Dee and Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.
Diving Bell & the Butterfly...seems to appeal more to Best Foreign Film than Best Picture.
Juno will get a Best Actress nom as well for Best Original Screenplay because Diablo Cody is the trendy name that cannot be ignored as well as her tattoos and stripper background...ooo!how edgy! And if the comparisons continue with Juno & Little Miss Sunshine...then that might kill Juno chances at Best Pic...why? because LMS was a gawd awful choice for Best Pic and I don't think the Academy wants to repeat such an error...Little indie movies are cool. But when they're overhyped and not really very good (LMS) then they really don't deserve any honors.

There continues to be a shutout for 'Atonement', 'Sweeney Todd', "American Gangster'--and, suprisingly, 'Juno'.
Sadly,'The Diving Bell and the Butterfly' received no mention either.
'No Country' is now officially the frontrunner for Best Picture Oscar.
Best Director is murkier, and may be one of the tightest races in Oscar history. Julian Schnabel for 'Diving Bell', The Coen Brothers for 'No Country', and Paul Thomas Anderson for 'There Will Be Blood'.
Over in the Best Actress corner Julie Christie continues her winning ways and is more than likely the official frontrunner; Marion Cotillard has had only one win out of five critical award races.
In the Best Actor corner we have Daniel Day-Lewis and George Clooney duking it out for the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.
There seems to be a consensus among all the critics groups for the Best Supporting Actor category with Javier Bardem sweeping nearly every award.
Last, but not least, Cate Blanchett's performance in 'I'm Not There', as well as the movie itself, has lost its legs probably due to the over-hyping of the movie and the performance. Barring an upset, Amy Ryan is now the offical frontrunner in this category and most likely the winner.
'Juno' could also suffering a backlash from over-hype for its star Ellen Page. Let's hope this is not the case, but more than likely the screenplay will be recognized.

"The Lives Of Others" was so special to me, that I saw it several times in the theater. And now, I have the DVD.
The lead actor is memorable. The choices his character made were heroic!
I was saddened to learn the actor, Ulrich Muhe died, recently.
