Our forums reax: SAG doesn't clear up the Oscars derby
Our message boards are buzzing with lively reax to the SAG noms. CLICK HERE to check out the forum thread. Sample comments below.
Atypical says, "Ruby Dee is officially in the game for a nomination now. Love it, and good for her. I'm kind of surprised that Tommy Lee Jones managed too get in for "No Country for Old Men" instead of "In the Valley of Elah" (where I think his attention should focus this year). The "Into the Wild" love was very needed for that film, and now with nods for Emile Hirsch, Catherine Keener (very surprised for her), and Hal Holbrook (finally), and ensemble, I think they're looking good for some key Oscar nominations. I'm also thrilled for Cate Blanchett's double nods, "Hairspray" making it into best ensemble, and Ryan Gosling making it in for "Lars and the Real Girl.""
Monkaholic thinks, "Best Picture is going to be VERY interesting. The only one that is an absolute lock for a nomination is No Country for Old Men. Just like the acting categories, there's about 7 or 8 other films who have a legitimate shot at getting in. Has there ever been a year where only one or two of the SAG ensemble nominees for film got in for Best Picture at the Oscars?"
As Nate Doggg notes, "All of the big Globe nominees (Atonement, Michael Clayton's War, Sweeney Todd) being shut out really makes the Oscar race interesting! 3:10 to Yuma? Who saw that coming? I can't believe it, but it looks like Gosling is going to sneak in for an underrated little-seen film two years in a row! Wow. I'm sorry to see no individual nod for Washington, but oh so thrilled for Ruby Dee's nomination!"
24fanatic asks, "In actress, could that line-up be any more boring? The only exciting nomination is for Ellen Page. I really hope Cate Blanchett does not end up with a nomination for Elizabeth. I would rather see Keira (who will probably replace her at the Oscars) or Helena take that nom."
For outsider, "the truly shocking snubs are: "Juno" in Ensemble; Johnny Depp, "Sweeney Todd"; Philip Seymour Hoffman, "Charlie Wilson's War" or "The Savages" (I thought actors loved him); Jim Broadbent, "Longford" (I thought he would win)."
Broadway Divo wonders, "Where is Atonement and Sweeney Todd? We have no clue what's going to happen at the Oscars now. Hairspray in exchange for Sweeney Todd? Madness!"
Benito Delicias is, "still not sold on the snubs here repeating at Oscars. In fact I'll still predict Linney and/or Foster for example. Sadly Angelina Jolie is more than in, she's one of those lazy nominations we see each year, again, I'll compare her to Charlize for North Country."
And 742 says, "I just took a look at the nominations, and they're not helping to clear up this Oscar race. Four nominations for "Into the Wild," after being almost shut out of the Golden Globes and getting no critical support except from the Broadcast Film Critics -- so is it an Oscar contender or not? I'd love for it to be, but who knows at this rate? Ryan Gosling for "Lars and the Real Girl"? Not judging the quality of the nomination because I haven't seen the film, but that's certainly a surprise, given who was left out. "Sweeney Todd" and "Atonement" got totally smacked down! Weren't they supposed to be among the frontrunners?"

In my opinion the snub was for Jodie Foster, she was memorable in The Brave One,but the movie was a floop,so they prefer to put "New Faces" like Keira Knighty or Amy Adams, just because both appear in box office movies.
Jodie Foster don“t have to put contact lenses, change the color of the hair and put a lot of makeup like Angelina Jolie did to give a great performace.
