Buzzmeter Update: See our experts' new Oscars & Globes predix!

January 3, 2008 |  5:29 am

"No Country for Old Men" moves ahead as the best picture frontrunner in our newest Oscars Buzzmeter. Marion Cotillard ("La Vie en Rose") remains ahead in the best-actress derby, but beware: several pundits like Dave Karger (Entertainment Weekly), Peter Travers (Rolling Stone) and myself now rank Ellen Page ("Juno") in first place. Page is ahead to win the Golden Globe for best comedy/musical actress in our separate predix breakdown. To maneuver between the Oscar and Globes prediction tables, use the red drop-down menu in the top left corner of the Buzzmeter box — CLICK HERE. Remember then to click on the links for "Individual Panelist's Rankings" to see the big breakdown of predix per pundit.

I do not in any way understand how you can still list ST as your #1 BP pick when NOT one orther person has it in their TOP FIVE even. If every Oscar forecaster threw in what they 'whished' had a shot then these charts would be a pointless hot mess.

Academy Awards Members shouldn't ignore Marion Cotillard performance in La Vie en Rose. She's by far the leading female performance by an actress this year, bringing to the screen a realistic, extraordinaire, profound and breathtaking personification of one of the most known and controversial singers in the world.Cotillard became into Edith Piaf herself. She brought the essence of the real Piaf in a very complex, sincere and dramatic performance.A master work by Cotillard,a brilliant high class acting demonstration and among the greatest female performances in cinema history. She really deserves to win the statuette of the Oscar as the best actress this year.
