E! and TV Guide Channel scale back Globes coverage

January 9, 2008 |  9:30 pm

Usually, E! Entertainment Network and TV Guide Channel offer live, multi-hour, marathon coverage of the Golden Maria_ryanGlobes and Oscars. So what do they plan for the revamped Globes this Sunday?

Only TV Guide Channel will present typical coverage, albeit in scaled-back form. Prior to the press conference at 9 p.m. ET, the network will air a two-hour countdown show hosted by Maria Sansone, Chris Harrison and Carrie Keagan and featuring various pundits for commentary. It'll be anchored jointly from the Beverly Hilton Hotel and the network's Hollywood studio.

During the press conference, TV Guide will telecast a repeat of a past "American Idol" special, then, after the press conference, present another live hour of post-Globes analysis from 10 to 11 p.m. ET.

Meantime, rival E! will continue with usual programming with Ryan Seacrest making periodic news cut-ins to announce Golden Globe winners. The entire first season of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" airs from 4 to 8 p.m. ET/ PT, followed by a marathon of new show "Snoop Dogg's Father Hood" from 8 to 10 p.m. ET/PT.
