How do you think Jon Stewart will do as Oscar host?

When Jon Stewart hosted the Oscarcast two years ago, it reaped its second-lowest TV ratings ever and the reviews he got as emcee were mixed.

The Los Angeles Times cheered, "He won himself a position as permanent host. " The Hollywood Reporter said: "He seemed at times nervous and self-conscious, but on the whole, Stewart delivered with just the right balance of reverence and smugness."

However, Washington Post TV critic Tom Shales found it " hard to believe that professional entertainers could have put together a show less entertaining than this year's Oscars, hosted with a smug humorlessness by comic Jon Stewart, a sad and pale shadow of great hosts gone by." Shales told him to " keep your 'Daily' job."

MSNBC predicted that Stewart would be remembered as a flop among emcees, along with Chris Rock and David Letterman.

Alan says, "Jon must realize that his far left humor is only appreciated by a tiny minority of Americans."

A poll released today by American Research Group -- http://americanresearchgroup.com/economy/ -- shows Bush's job approval rating at 19%, with 77% of Americans disapproving of the job he's doing. When you focus on the economy, American disapproval of him is 79%.

These must be new mathematical definitions of "tiny minority" of which I was not previously aware.

Alan....the surge is working? really?...Watching Fox News again?...and you're voting for insane McCain and you're a Bush-licker...no doubt...if the surge is working...then it's time to bring our troops home, que no?

He will be terrible!

He was terrible the only other time he hosted
the Oscars, too.

Frankly, I think Stewart was as bad as Letterman was a few years ago. And that was bad!!

Ellen DeGeneres was great last year! And Woopi Goldberg has always been great.

Stop searching for funny male hosts; there aren't many around. And that is okay!

why this site its making promotion to julie christie so much??? thats no clean at all. what about MARION COTILLARD??? what about ELLEN PAGE???. i sick to this promotion over christie on this website.

Before Jon takes any potshots during the show against the war, he should do some research, or at least listen to Sen. McCain and understand that the Surge is working to make President Bush's invasion of Iraq the success it was always meant to be. Jon must realize that his far left humor is only appreciated by a tiny minority of Americans.

He'll be wonderful!

I thought he was awful last time, and I don't see why he would have improved. Worst host ever. I was extremely sad to see him back.

Jon Stewart is perfect, until he does little gags like yelling "trilogy!"

But Jon Stewart is far from a flop as O'Neil constantly cries about. I'd say, among hosts of the last 20 years, he's in third place, behind Crystal and Martin, ahead of Goldberg.

Shales is right. I think the problem is that Jon Stewart's very political brand of humor won't actually entertain the types of people who religiously watch the Oscars. If we really cared more about Hilary vs. Obama, we wouldn't be watching you right now!

I thought he didn't do a bad job the first time around, unlike Chris Rock. You can't expect everyone else to be like Crystal. and i find second time hosts seems to be more comfortable. so i'll be looking forward to it.

With the writer's strike, he should have more to say & do. Maybe we're just spoiled by Billy Crystal, but I think Stewart will do just fine this year.

He'll do just fine, just like he did before~!
