OSCARS PREDIX: Experts forecast winnahs
Entertainment Weekly posts the predix of six in-house gurus — HERE. Seems to be much consensus among them, but a few daredevils like Sean Smith scoot out onto a few thin limbs for fun (Smith picks Philip Seymour Hoffman for supporting actor and Julian Schnabel for best director — c-r-a-c-k, SNAP, faaaaaall, OUCH!).
Biggest surprise: There isn't too much clash in the supporting actress lineup. Four of the six gurus go for Cate Blanchett; one other strays for Amy Ryan (Gary Susman) and one for Tilda Swinton (Thom Geier).
New predix were posted this week at TheEnvelope.com, but I've been queasy about giving them a shout-out because of an embarrassing tech glitch. Unfortunately, some old predix are mixed in with the new, making the grid a bit hard to follow (and swallow). Our input software should've ignored the views of gurus who didn't make our cut-off deadline this time to vote. Instead, it picked up old views expressed before we knew the actual nominees.
Therefore, Peter Travers (Rolling Stone) cites Emile Hirsch, Anthony Breznican (USA Today) trumpets Amy Adams, Lou Lumenick (New York Post) names Keira Knightley. Disregard those predix, please, plus those of Claudia Puig (USA Today), Sam Rubin (KTLA) and Carrie Rickey (Philadelphia Inquirer).
