Jim Brooks' article does a winning job spotlighting some of Oscars' most shocking losers — performances and films that weren't even nominated! Oh, the infamy! (READ MORE) Well, let me rip back the curtain to reveal even more shockeroos.
Believe it or not, none of these gems was nominated for best picture:

A.I. might just be one of the worst movies ever touted for Best Picture. Thank God it was ignored.

A Clockwork Orange was nonimated for best picture.

Tom, you got it wrong about "A Clockwork Orange." It WAS nominated for Best Picture at the 1971 Oscars, as well as Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing. It did not win any award, however.
