Beatles' Grammy nomination plaque sells for only $7,000

March 19, 2008 |  2:42 pm

Considering that somebody paid $3,900 for that skimpy dress worn by Amy Winehouse at the recent Grammys, the sums paid for other, more historic Grammy memorabilia seem like quite a bargain.

At Guernsey's auction conducted last Sunday in conjunction with EBay, the Grammy Award statuette won by James Taylor for "You've Got a Friend" as best pop vocal performance of 1971 sold for $10,108. That was in line with pre-auction estimates. See HERE

However, the Grammy nomination plaque awarded to John Lennon and Paul McCartney for song of the year nominee "Let It Be" (1971) came in below the estimate range of $10,000 to $15,000. It sold for only $7,000. See HERE By the way, "Let It Be" lost that Grammy race to Paul Simon's "Bridge Over Troubled Water. "
