Some posters volunteered explanations for their votes:
MrTalented: 2007 was a banner year for Melody Thomas Scott. Her work was so nuanced and understated, yet powerful all at the same time. There's not much else to say because I think that most who saw her work from last year know why she deserves to win.
Glfan: Crystal Chappell has a perfect combo pair of tapes this year surrounding her non-wedding to Buzz. Watching Justin Deas & Crystal Chappell act off of each other was pure soap opera enjoyment and I honestly believe she gave the standout performance of 07.
EmmyLoser: I had to go with Deidre Hall. She turned in wonderful and varied performances this year, from the more high-profile stuff like John's death and funeral to her less flashy scenes as a supportive mother and devoted wife to her comatose husband. DH infused the John's death story with meaning for the character of Marlena by taking her from the needy victim she had been at the end of 2006 to a woman who once again became strong, confident, and at times quite intimidating.
GloFish: I voted for Bobbie Eakes, who I thought gave the most hearfelt and touching perfomance of last year, when she thought Babe had died and she went to her deathbed. A tape made in Emmy heaven.
Grace17fan: I voted for Michelle Stafford because I still say the scenes she did saying "goodbye" to Drucilla on the cliff and the scenes where she apologized in court were two of the best acted scenes of the year.
MARKPGH: Why, it's finally time Katherine Kelly Lang (after 21 years of NEVER being nominated) wins an Emmy. For 21 years, she has impeccably portrayed daytime's most tortured heroine. Lang's performances grew just as the character of Brooke has grown. No matter what the writers threw at her, Lang not only met their expectations, she surpassed them.
Boidiva02: I voted for Erika Slezak because i feel that her presence on-screen always elevates the show (and ultimately the medium as a whole) to a new level and her work is to me the classic example of what good soap acting (hell, good acting period) should be.
Daytimeemmyfan: Michelle Stafford was on fire most of last year and was the center storm of the show from the beginning up until Phyllis went to prison. She has so many good reels to submit and this was when she was playing the vixenish Phyllis.

Motion Pictures and prime-time television have gotten so stylish and sophisticated that watching Daytime soap-operas have become an embarassment again.
You know, just like Elizabeth Snead's photo of herself on her blog.
What stretches out two miles and has no feeling? Ms. Snead's clitoris !
