'Cranford' woos Emmy voters tonight in Hollywood
Just days after its poor showing at the BAFTA TV awards, the BBC/PBS miniseries "Cranford" now rallies as it reaches for Emmy Awards.
Tonight stars Judi Dench and Eileen Atkins and other program principals will conduct a question-and-answer powwow with members of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences after a screening of "Cranford" footage at the Directors Guild of America.
One news tidbit may startle Emmy voters, since it's not yet been disclosed. So Gold Derby is breaking the news right now. Even though Atkins pulled off a shocking upset at BAFTA, beating Dench in the best-actress race, she will compete in the supporting category at the Emmys. Her character only appears in one installment of the five-hour mini.
