Maid service: Lowly 'Y&R' actress finally shines on Walk of Fame

After 25 years starring on TV's highest-rated soap, "The Young & the Restless," Kate Linder has never won an Emmy, but she just got what her also-Emmyless TV boss Jeanne Cooper has: her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Only two other soap stars have achieved the same: Emmy winners Susan Lucci and Macdonald Carey.

This is quite a high honor for a gal in such a lowly role. Linder stars as Esther Valentine, Cooper's often comical maid. On weekends she works as flight attendant for United Airlines.

Off TV, Linder does hold a high rank in Emmyland. Since 2005, she's served as a member of the board of governors of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences as a representative of daytime TV. While ATAS members participate in voting for the Daytime Emmys, administration of those awards is overseen by that other TV academy, the one based in New York: the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
