Kramer's Irving Thalberg Award fails to sell for $29,000
First, no one bid at auction last week for the sky-high price sought for the first-ever Irving Thalberg Award, which was bestowed in 1938 to Darryl F. Zanuck (CLICK HERE to read more). Next, just this past weekend, the Thalberg Award given to Stanley Kramer at the 1961 Oscars failed to sell for a far-lower price ($29,000).
In an earlier version of this blog item, I mistakenly reported that it sold for that price because that's the impression given at its EBAY page HERE. . However, as our poster Rick notes below, the item is still for sale at Heritage Auction Galleries' website HERE. (Thanks for the tip-off, Rick.)
The Tony Award bestowed to "Fiddler on the Roof" as best Broadway revival of 1991 sold for $4,750, which was within the original estimate range of $4,000 to $6,000. Starting bid was $2,900. (See final sale HERE.)

Tom,
Now it is shown as a sale..
