VOTE: Emmy's Top 10 outrages! What's the worst?
Many thanks to our forum posters for helping to come up with some doozies to list here. (Check out our message board's thread -- HERE.) Below, please tell us what you think is Emmy's worst crime or blunder:
1.) Lindsay Wagner ("The Bionic Woman") beat Sada Thompson ("Family") as best drama actress of 1977. She also beat Angie Dickinson ("Police Woman") and Kate Jackson ("Charlie's Angels")! Oh, the horror! Hey, wait a minute! Shouldn't this category have been best comedy actress?
2.) Red Skelton and his TV show beat Lucille Ball and "I Love Lucy" as best comedian and best comedy show of 1952 — after its first, huge year on TV when "Lucy" became a breakout, national sensation.
3.) "Brideshead Revisited" lost best miniseries to "Marco Polo" in 1982.
4.) "Lonesome Dove" got shot down by the mighty guns of "War & Remembrance" in 1989.
5.) The "Cheers" theme song "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" lost to "We'll Win This World," a now-forgotten ditty from a "GE Theater Special" "Two of a Kind."
6.) Harry Shearer remains the only cast member of "The Simpsons" never to receive an Emmy even though he voices some of that classic show's greatest roles, including Montgomery Burns, Smithers, Ned Flanders, Kent Brockman, Rev. Lovejoy, Principal Skinner and Dr. Hibbert. Even God!
7.) Snub of "The Wire."
8.) Jackie Gleason and Andy Griffith never won, but Art Carney and Don Knotts won FIVE for portraying their goofy, second bananas.
9.) Ellen Burstyn nominated as best supporting actress in a TV film for a 12-second performance in "Mrs. Harris" two years ago.
10.) Snub of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

I 'm in a south of France, also sorry for my bad language :
Buffy The vampire slayer is very apreciated in France and Europe.
This tv show lasted 7 years , it's very well !!!
Actors, actress, music, producters, scenarist are very gifted.
Snubbing Buffy is defenitley the biggest outrage!

I'm always amused when this subject comes up--that Lindsay Wagner's 1977 Emmy as Best Acrtress is some kind of heinous outrage. If you've ever seen the two-part episode for which she won the award--Deadly Ringer--in which she played a double role, one must indeed conclude that she richly deserved it. Too,my sense is that she should have at least been nominated for another Emmy--for the final episode of Bionic Woman, "On The Run."

Lindsay Wagner earned the Emmy win. If you haven't seen the two part episode for which she was nominated, "Deadly Ringer" watch it with 1977 eyes and you cant deny it. She was and is very underrated.

Buffy was so overlooked and probably just because the emmys were being snobs over the name. I see US shows on tv now that are copying the Buffy stories and are a lot more sub standard. Buffy was iconic and still is much loved around the world.

Lindsay Wagner should have won. I saw the other actresses that year and Lindsay definately kicked their ass. Have any of you actually watched her perfomance objectively? She is one of the most underrated actresses on TV. She won the Emmy people, get over it.

The lead composer (for score
music on BUFFY) won an Emmy in '98 for his soundtrack work in the ('97) episode of 'Becoming Pt. 1'. He, Chris Beck, was invaluable to that show. BtVS was worlds BEYOND so many of the other series back then. -(Seems there's a consensus HERE, by most.)- Greater snubs were those
many times when BUFFY eps. weren't even nominated. Such 'snubbish' behaviour, Emmy!

Ellen Burstyn's nom is just....insane, but so is Buffy's snub--although Buffy did get some technical wins and noms, it's amazing it didn't pull more with some of it's episodes ("Hush" in particular... I see the Gilmore Girls comments and have to add, they won a tech emmy for makeup...it showcases some great acting, but they get a makeup emmy--go figure.

Snubbing "Buffy" and nominating Ellen Burstyn are definitely the two worst outrages of Emmy. Those two, among other reasons, are why I snub the Emmy Awards.

Where is the outrage of no love for Gilmore Girls? I see the repeats on ABC family and are blown away by the acting caliber of all the major players (Graham, Bieldel, Bishop). This show had wonderful and timely writing. I hope to see that on your Emmy outrages.
