Barbara Walters found Edward Brooke fascinating
The day after her own gabfest -- "The View" -- scored seven Daytime Emmy nods, Barbara Walters is making headlines today with her confession to Oprah Winfrey of her 1970s affair with married Sen. Edward Brooke. During
the taping of that talker, to air Tuesday, she told Winfrey that she had been "infatuated" with the Republican senator from Massachusetts. At age 78, the savvy newswoman is promoting her tell-all book "Audition" which sounds like a must-read if this tidbit is a taste of things to come.
While she made no mention of this "hot topic" on today's edition of "The View," the doyenne of daytime TV did herald the show's Emmy nods. Now in its 11th season, the ABC staple may continue to win the ratings race but has proved to be a perpetual loser at the Emmys, at least when it comes to best host. However, with the revolving door of hosts slowing down long enough to deposit Whoopi Goldberg, one of only 10 people to win the grand slam of awards (Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, Tony), in the moderator's chair, perhaps this could be their year.
