"Prince Caspian" easily won the box office race this past weekend. But how will it fare in the awards derby next spring? Three years ago "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" — the first installment in "The Chronicles of Narnia" series — earned three Oscar nominations for achievements in makeup, sound mixing, and visual effects.

Howard Berger and Tami Lane, who won the Oscar then for transforming actors into fauns and the like, returned to bring to life new characters from this second C.S. Lewis story. While the sound mixing trio of Terry Porter, Dean A. Zupancic and Tony Johnson lost the 2005 Oscar to the "King Kong" team, they too are back and hoping for a win this time around.

Only one of the quartet of nominated visual effects specialists -- Dean Wright -- returned to work on this sequel. Also back is costume designer Isis Mussenden who picked up BAFTA and Costume Design Guild nods for the first film as well as set decorator Kerrie Brown, who was Oscar nominated for "Babe" in 1996.
