Good Oscar news for 'The Lovely Bones' and Peter Jackson

Rumors that production of "The Lovely Bones" shut down over a creative spat must terrify Peter Jackson fans, who are rooting for the daredevil director to sweep the Oscars again with his first "serious" flick since the "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King." (I think "King Kong" counts as serious too, but, oh, well, some film critics disagreed.)

Turns out that the whole hubbub is overblown, according to Edward Douglas of Comingsoon.net, who reports that the spat is really ancient history and won't delay or, worse, torpedo the film's planned release. Best news of all: Edward has discovered that Paramount doesn't plan to open the film on March 13, 2009, as previously whispered. No, no, no, it'll have a much more Oscar-friendly release date — in the fall.

I'm not really into the whole LOTR thing, but I do admire Peter Jackson. More power to him
