Let's peek inside Lifetime TV's Emmy campaign box
Lifetime Channel's Emmy campaign box contains three discs: its hit new series "Army Wives," TV film "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" and reality TV program "How to Look Good Naked" hosted by Carson Kressley of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" fame (an Emmy-winning show).
Missing from the package is a disc for its miniseries "Capture of the Green River Killer," which premiered in March on spinoff Lifetime Movie Network. That's being inserted into the pages of the upcoming June issue of Emmy Magazine, which is now accepting DVDs of full programs for the first time ever. Five other programs by rival networks will also be inserted, but the TV academy is so secretive about the new marketing development that, when Gold Derby telephoned the magazine's editor to find out more, he refused to take the call. One day later, I got an officious message on my answering machine from an ATAS rep telling me that the academy does not comment on such things. Can you believe that treatment? In two weeks, the June issue of Emmy Magazine will be on national newsstands and the discs will be evident for all to see. So what's all of the paranoia about?
Below is the full list of everything Lifetime entered for Emmy competition. Only the programs mentioned above are getting a DVD campaign.
