Mario Lopez wins the award for best biceps on Broadway

May 7, 2008 | 12:15 pm

Mario Lopez could be suffering from "bicep envy," says Michael Riedel, theater columnist for the New York Post. Mario_biceps Fresh from his turn on TV's "Dancing With the Stars," he is treading the boards in the revival of "A Chorus Line." Knowing that this hoofer's fans like to see as much of him as they can, Riedel reports that Mario Lopez "wanted to wear a brown shirt with short sleeves so that he could show off his biceps."

The problem, according to purists, is that the original costume –- a tan sweater with long sleeves –- is based on what the show's originator, the late Michael Bennett, would wear to rehearsals. Adding to the trouble, says Riedel, is that Mario was so concerned that a costar's biceps would upstage his that he insisted his muscular rival wear a hoodie over his tank top.
