Sony Pictures Classics waltzes off with 'Bashir' at Cannes — Expect a hefty Oscars push

Following up on the kudos success it experienced with "Persepolis" at the last derby, Sony Pictures Classics just snatched up a similar flick at Cannes: "Waltz with Bashir. " Our Entertainment News and Buzz blog describes it as "an animated autobiographical documentary about a former Israeli Army soldier who tries to recount his long-forgotten mission in the first Lebanon War in the early eighties." READ MORE. Expect a major Oscar push, natch.

"Persepolis" won kudos as best animated featured from the New York and L.A. film critics, plus it picked up some Cesar Awards. It was nominated for best animated feature at the Oscars.
