'The Dark Knight' crushes 'Iron Man' at Golden Trailer Awards, but 'Iron Man' rallies!

May 9, 2008 |  4:50 pm

In the fierce clash of the superheroes at the Golden Trailer Awards, both "The Dark Knight" and "Iron Man" were left standing at the end of last night's ceremony honoring the best of those mini-movies that preview coming attractions. While "Dark Knight" took down "Iron Man" in the battle over best action-movie trailer, the latter rallied to claim the separate victory for best summer-movie blockbuster. However, in that matchup, "Iron Man" wasn't pitted against the sequel to "Batman Begins." It vanquished "Hancock," "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" and "Speed Racer."

Already generating buzz is "Iron Man" star Robert Downey, Jr. His other summer flick, "Tropic Thunder," won the best comedy prize. Ben Stiller wrote, directed and costars in this satire on moviemaking due out Aug. 15. Downey is an actor who takes his craft so seriously that he has his skin dyed to play an African American soldier.

Among the other winners at this awardsfest were "No Country for Old Men" (best drama) and "Atonement" (best romance). Sinbad hosted the festivities which will air May 26 on MyNetwork TV.
