Will 'Iron Man' clobber 'Dark Knight' at Golden Trailer Awards?

May 8, 2008 | 10:09 am

"Iron Man" could pick up its first kudo at tonight’s Golden Trailer awardsfest. This box office smash is competing for best action trailer against "The Dark Knight," "Hellboy 2," and "Live Free or Die Hard." Given the $100-million opening weekend haul for "Iron Man," its trailer certainly was effective. You can judge for yourself CLICK HERE

These awards, now in their ninth year, honor those two-minute films that showcase the best bits of upcoming movies. There are 16 categories as well as a best-in-show prize. My favorite category might just be the Golden Fleece that honors the best trailer for the worst movie. This year's nominees: "Awake," "Drillbit Taylor," "Gracie," and "Southland Tales."

Can "No Country for Old Men" continue its winning ways and beat "3:10 to Yuma," "American Gangster" and "Into the Wild" for best drama trailer? Will "Atonement" be vanquished by taking best romance trailer over "27 Dresses," "My Sassy Girl," and "P.S. I Love You?"

Sinbad hosts the festivities tonight at the Orpheum Theater in LA. The show airs May 26 on MyNetwork TV. For the full list of nominees - CLICK HERE
